Loan watch

Yeah, it was probably me asking the question on there  there isn't a lot of activity on blue and amber. I'll keep a lookout for Trey, see if I can ask how he's doing.

It's not about them being PL level, certainly not after one loan, it's about aiding their development whether they go on to play for us or not.
I think we need to stop looking at League One and League Two loans for the players development and start looking at European leagues. Belgian and Swiss top divisions for example. Young aside none look to have been beneficial.
EFL still too reliant on physicality.
Not sure I get the point of the non league loans either. Appreciate that youth football doesn't expose players to the physicality of mens football but why not just have a competition for the U21 squad to play that level of opposition? Make it a Champions of the North type thing. Barrow, Carlisle, Darlington, Gateshead, Hartlepool and South Shields potential all tier 5 or 6 next season. Hoy in U21's from the Boro and Visitors. Hoy it on a subscription/make it financial worthwhile so there's some revenue for the non league clubs to play their full team.
Got to be better than the likes of Trey getting next to zero game time in League Two for example. And a canny audition opportunity for kids you aren't going to make EPL players but might be good enough to have a career at lower levels.
International loans for the top prospects, Finn, Trey etc. Norther Championship matches for those who need exposure to mens football.

Think the club need to maybe look at the structure of the loan, agree it's a waste of time if players are getting minimal game time although some would argue that time in the 1st team environment is beneficial in itself.. Mayenda got minimal minutes north of the border then came back and did well in the championship. Lots of variables really with each individual

who knows if Mayenda would have progressed regardless of that loan at Hibs? He certainly didn't gain much on the pitch experience. Maybe it made him improve attitudinally? Or maybe he just developed more physically. Certainly was a dramatic improvement but maybe that was as a result of being given first team opportunities. Harder to offer in the EPL.

I would think loans are primarily about game time in competitive football for players not yet at our first team level

That's a canny list

What's happened to Seelt, is he still injured or have Wolfsburg just made the decision to bin him? Appears to be nothing mention and he hasn't been seen in 2026.
