For many, many years cricketers, commentators and cricketing journalists talked about bowlers bowling a good "line and length".
I noticed a change a number of years ago (with Australian TV commentators at least) where "line and length" was quite suddenly replaced by "lines and lengths".
I still cringe every time I hear "lines and lengths".
I'm sure it didn't suddenly become grammatically correct to say "lines and lengths" rather than "line and length".
Does it annoy anyone else or am I just gettting old and less tolerant?
