Manufacturing decline started years ago, no doubt there’ll be another part of the world producing similar cranes for less cost, but won’t be as good.

The film studios could have made the land a lot more valuable though.

Where I’m working atm has an area of old shipyards which have been converted into recreational use, with bars, restaurants and shops etc and has been done very tastefully. Think Sheepfolds but on a much grander scale.

This site would be an ideal contender for this, certainly if the film studios go ahead.

I’m not suggesting that is what we should do, I’m saying it would make a great space. But you’re right, we do have more eateries and new bars than I can remember in my lifetime.
