Liam Sweeney - a moving tribute

Just got back from our local Morrisons (Killingworth) where Liam worked. All of the staff are wearing Newcastle shirts, there are posters and black and white balloons all over, but most moving of all is that there are dozens of football shirts hanging above the aisles.

What made it even more powerful was that they've included an aisle of Sunderland shirts as well (all seem to have been maybe placed at SJP last year). I spoke to the duty manager on behalf of us all (I hope) to thank them for such a moving tribute, and to get permission to share a few photos on here, which he gave.

He did say that it wasn't really about Morrisons, moreso his colleagues wanting to show their continued sense of loss.

If there was one tiny scrap of good to come out of this horrific tragedy, it's that we were able to come together as two sets of football fans and show that there is no place for hate, vitriol and violent thinking in the minds of true supporters.

RIP Liam and John

Touching tribute a year on. It has it's time and place and this is certainly it, north east coming together as one.
