I remember in summer 2024 telling anyone who would listen on this forum that he was someone who was provided with a very good squad with one of the higher wage bills in the league that season, won 3 of his last 13 to bottle a playoff spot, and has a tactical setup and playstyle that is totally at odds with the squad he would have been walking into it, when he was being strongly linked with the SAFC job.

Seri, Philogene, Carvalho (for 6 months), Omur, Greaves, Tufan, Morton, Zaroury, Giles were all good to excellent players at that level at that time and all commanded decent fees and/or wages.

People seem to think he did an excellent job at Hull but to me it couldn't be further from the truth.

Genuinely thought he'd get them promoted with that squad. Some tremendous players at the time.
 
He’ll be crushed after that capitulation. 2 nil up at home against a newly promoted side? Imagine if theyd lost it…
 
Only a few games in, but on the OTC Pod they mentioned that Gary O'Neil has a better ppg at Strasbourg this season.
