If he wasn't at Strasbourg there would've been no chance they'd hire him, to give him such a long contract too is mental. Mind it's very in keeping with the club even if you look back to the 90's they would sack managers all the time, Gullit, Vialli, Ancelotti, Mourinho the first time even Conte all had some success then seemed to fall out with the board and were gone. Funny club and they never seem to have a fully thought out plan or style, look at the likes of Brighton who seem to be prepared in the event of the manager going.
 
Bearing in mind that it came out earlier this season that one of the venture capital bods at BlueCo thought that having a manager was in itself unnecessary, none of this is surprising. The club is essentially being run by American data bros who only see potential profit and numbers, and this was always going to fail.

Got to be. It always seemed an appointment of convenience rather than picking the best person for the job. It’d be mental to tie yourself into a 7 year deal as a club that’s going for presumably league titles & champions league football & appointing someone who’s knocked around at a lower level. His team will have had very little leverage apart from “yes, he’d love the job”

The problem in the modern era is the manager has less power than is actually required and can't say what needs to be said in case someone's feelings are hurt.

Rosenior should be able to hold them in that dressing room for an hour and half, get them in on Sunday training (or whenever their next day of is).

He should be able to bench players, make them train with the kids and basically turn it into a fight and / or siege mentality.

Instead, the best he can do is mutter a few criticisms for TV and it'll be back to normal this morning and he'll be sacked in the very near future.

I’ve no idea how his successor is getting on but I wonder if they might offer to return him to Strasbourg next season.

He’s clearly a talented coach, although he comes across so badly in the media and that’s magnified in this country whereas in France it’s perfectly fine to be a bit weird.

I mean, what on Earth were Chelsea thinking.

He might one day be capable of getting respect from multi millionaire footballers who are at their peak, but he's no where near that situation yet.

It made me cringe at the wokery of it all. Artetahole is no better. Getting players to write down the adverse comments made by non fans and burning the paper in an oil drum. FFS. Where’s Cloughie ; Paisley; Robson when you need them eh ?
 
Man U and Chelsea, two of the biggest clubs in world football, both have managers who were sacked within the last 2 years by Middeslborough and Hull respectively.

That's how mad the managerial market is these days. There are no safe bets, no guarantees, and barely any elite level young coaches.

Bare this in mind next time you see someone say we should be looking to "upgrade" from RLB

In fairness, arguably neither of them deserved to be sacked from those jobs. And also, maybe it’s harder to manage/coach in the championship than the premier league?

You can’t argue with Carrick’s record at Man U. You certainly can with Rosenior’s at Chelsea, though.

Rosenior also isn't consistently getting a tune out of the players, as well as missing infield motivators its pretty obvious the players aren't buying his off field brand of motivation.
Seems a different picture altogether with Carrick

Compared to other clubs Chelseas points and performances would have been acceptable but Chelsea is one of the big 5, pay big wages and expectations are far higher, regardless of how bad any of the buys they have been.

The owners aren't gonna take the blame so it'll be the manager that takes the fall, as much like the players he hasn't performed anywhere near the level expected
