If he can put 2 or 3 games together bowling 90mph like he did last week I would have him in to be honest. Offers something different to what we already have so may aswell get him in while in form. Rather him than some County plodder bowling low 80s.

what because he can bowl quick you may as well have finn in then

Fair enough, if Finn is back in the right frame of mind with his bowling get him in, but Plunkett is there bowling fast if needed. I would certainly rather Plunkett played than someone like Woakes batting 8.

even rushworth has more wickets I think than plunkett this season

See this is where I think county stats don't tell the full story in terms of England selection. Rushworth is an excellent performer for Durham, and a huge asset to the club. However I suspect that he would struggle to take wickets in the international game purely down to his lack of pace. Not many bowlers of his pace have taken many wickets over the years in international cricket.

Plunkett on the other hand offers something extra. Express pace. Yes he doesn't get as many county wickets as others, but he has more of a chance of stepping up to the international level due to the fact he can trouble batsmen with his pace.

Same can be said for batsmen of which there are loads of examples. Colly and Trescothick both flattered to deceive in County cricket, however they were identified as having the right mindset to step up to the international game. Both did so successfully.

he doesn't get as many wickets and goes for more runs not good for a bowler im not totally against him just think he isn't international class and there are better options I would however have him ahead of bresnan woakes etc

He must be pushing 30 now is he? Talented lad but I would have him nowhere near the England team. For all he has done well at Yorkshire, he's not blowing sides away, just chipping in here and there.

Bit harsh the posts on here

He has bowled very well this year and can bowl consistently at pace, he's bulked up a lot

Rushworth is a typically successfully county bowler and who can do a bit to the ball, but international level you need a bit more

I don't think it is a riduclous suggestion to think Plunkett will be involve,ed he has sorted himself out

What has he done with the ball that Onions hasn't?

Will get a recall simply because he has improved his batting, and our batting needs a long tail.

People are talking as if he's some kind of Rawalpindi Express --- 90mph give over, he is bowling no quicker than fast medium most of the time.

Fags, booze & takeaways at 3am tend to do that to a man though...

hasent taken a bundle of wickets either mind I prefer him to big tim

Surprising pick, even though he's taken a few wickets he still proves expensive at times and it's not like he's running through teams, if he couldn't bat then he wouldn't be picked IMO, he's not even the leading wicket taker at Yorkshire this season.
