Let's all laugh at Newcastle

Guy at the end, something like, "We can easily climb the table, three or four wins on the trot and we'll be up there".:-D:-D

Sheerah said that in a post-match interview after one of their defeats. It was funny listening to the definition of "what will do" reducing with every match.

When they won the Champions League final against Boro they all thought the job was done - d'oh!

MR: This could be your last game in the Premiership.
JB: I'll still be getting my pay rise and a bonus.

I think this list needs updating now.

Mags only number 2!

2. Newcastle United
Perhaps not the worst run club financially (though owner Mike Ashley is keen to let people know how much money he's losing), but for failing to capitalise on their potential on the pitch, the Magpies surely deserve a spot on the list. One of the most passionately supported clubs in the country, United haven't one a major domestic honour since 1955. Just over a decade ago, Kevin Keegan took the club to within a hair's breadth of the title and seeds of hope were sewn. They were the second best team in the country and the most entertaining. Then Keegan left to mis-manage England and things went rapidly downhill. Directors of football, the board making signings, no patience with managers (some of them allegedly sacked by senior players), and an impatient crowd have insured a return to the culture of underachievement.

No wonder he was such a shit manager. He could hardly see the pitch.

Roker Park and Horatio Carter romping to wins at Newcastle races today resulting in the locals booing them into the winners enclosure!

It just keeps on getting better

Heard a fabulous rumour last night that both horses are owned by Niall Quinn under a pseudonym. After the win he apparently laid on a spread at some pub in Sunderland (thought to be The Board) and put £2000 behind the bar for a drinks slate. Apparently his missus was quaffing £50 botles of bubbly.

Excellent if true, but sounds like a fairy-tale.

And Finally

Newcastle's players returned to work on Wednesday as the club prepares for life in the Championship.

Striker Obafemi Martins turned up late with midfielder Joey Barton back at the club for the first time since he was told to stay away from the training ground by caretaker boss Alan Shearer. Martins is apparently now on £65,000 a week, after earning a £5,000-a-week pay rise under the terms of his contract.

Feck me 5 Grand (8.4%) a week pay rise for getting relegated. Why can't I get my bosses to pay me like that
