They have the least experienced Championship manager in the league and a squad full of stunned players who will all likely be blaming each other for the relegation. An early goal for Fulham could well see heads go down.

romotion is far from the formality their fans seem to think it will be, but I do hope they do it. 6 easy points next season etc etc.

There should be no excuses this season they have spent way more than any other championship club and have the world's greatest manager in charge

Fuck that ! Id rather they stay down there and rot

Speaking to my mag cousin last night.

He refused to accept Rafa had any fault in their relegation, they played fantastic football when he joined, the villa game didn't happen, they will destroy the championship next season, mitrovic will be the next Shearer, Ashley has 200 million to spend once they are promoted.........then the best one, "wu will be in Europe in the next 4 years"

And Moyes is a shit manager.

What a ridiculous thing to say - it was clearly Rafa Benitez who was the next Shearer.

How Aleksandar Mitrovic urged Dwight Gayle to take the number 9 shirt

had a last-minute change of heart about the No 9 shirt after realising wanted the iconic jersey so badly.

had told both players they had to earn the number first and set up a finishing competition at the club’s training ground.

But Mitrovic, who will stick to the No 45 for the season ahead, eventually told Gayle he should take on the famous shirt worn by the likes of Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Andy Cole, Jackie Milburn and Malcolm Macdonald in years gone by.

Benitez explained: “It will be impossible for him to do what Alan Shearer did with the No 9, but if he can get close in a couple years then fantastic!

“It was a competition between him and Mitro, they decided in the end.

“We organised a finishing competition for the No 9, in the end Mitro was telling him to take the No 9 and said: ‘don’t worry’.

“If they both score, both will be important.

“The atmosphere is good, it’s good for them to both want it but after talking with them it was easy.

“They understand the main thing is to score goals and be on the pitch.”

Reading between the lines -
Rene: We're having a finishing contest to decide the No. 9 shirt.
Missabit : Well, that's me knackered then, just have it.
