Lets All Laugh At Newcastle (Again!)

 Rafa didn't have enough time to drag Newcastle out of the bog McClaren lead them to. You can keep trying to convince yourself otherwise, but 0.77 under McClaren 1.33 under Rafa.

Don't get me wrong, after the vast amount of money spent, what McClaren did was shameful but Benitez failed to do what he was brought in to do.

He failed by losing to Norwich, failing to win a home game against a relegation rival and going to the rock bottom club and allowing them their first point in months.

No amount of 'points per game' stats can change those poor results.

The players are to blame along with the manager who failed to get them playing well enough ...... strangely those players are the same ones many Newcastle supporters are desperate to hold on to.

Quite simply, if he was highly thought of in Europe he would not be managing in the second tier of England.

He'd have job offers.

He doesn't. So he will probably stay because there is no other job.

He will probably get promoted at the first attempt and he'll play organised defensive football back in Premier League.

Pretty standard stuff. He's not the new messiah but he's making all the mistakes the previous ones have by encouraging silly thoughts of European football.

They'll turn on him when they realise he's pretty average, when managing a pretty average team. In fact Big Sam got his team up far more aggressive and attacking for games that needed to be won... But no. Benitez is the better manager apparently.

Pull up a chair and get some popcorn. It will all implode in impossible levels of acrimony in less than 3 years. Just a shame we have to wait for them to get promoted to watch it all unfold.

The thing is, if he does stay on. There's nothing stopping him from leaving if a bigger club comes in for him following the start of the season. That's of course if he stays on in the mean time.

Why are the mags so supportive of him though?

I'd support him if our alternative was Carver or Pearson tbh

In truth they're desperate to keep him there because it gives them something 'top class' to cling onto and 'boast about'.

They have nothing else. If he stays they'll start with the crap about us having their cast off while they have one of the world's best managers.

Yeah good point. I still think they could have Warnock and still gain promotion if they can keep their current players. Of course some of the players will leave but I think they'll still have more than enough to gain promotion unfortunately. You only have to take a look at the teams up there and realise how average the league actually is. Yes, for every Burnley you have a Leeds / Southampton / Leicester but those sides did not have the resource that Newcastle currently have.

Ashley knows he can't afford to stay out of the Premier League, it would be the biggest cock-up if they fail to achieve promotion next season.

Well, it's just nonsense isn't it. Newcastle fans aren't our biggest threat in getting promoted back to the Premier League, it'll be the other teams down there.

I get that you use these tired inaccurate cliches about Newcastle fans as a means of supporting your side, but it's entirely possible to raise something up without putting something else down. Healthier too. :)
You sound like Mel Gibson pretending he likes Jews.

They like him because he had an anomalous bit of success in Europe. Same as McClaren.

And like McClaren, he has been an abject failure ever since. Inter fans hate him. Chelsea fans despised him. He destroyed a promising Napoli, barely lasted half a season at Real.

You think he's your ticket to European glory. You think it's where you belong. But like Rafa, you are clinging to a very brief period in the distant history, and are doing so to mask you embarrassment at your pitiful present day reality.

You forced your chairman to lose a succession of effective managers. Then, though your creepy adulation of absolute pisstakers like Ben Arfa, you forced your chairmen to buy a load of flair players and ignore your possession of the league's worst defence. You did all that because you think it's your right. That you are still "entertainers", despite the fact that it's as credible as Steffi Graf still claiming to be world's best female tennis player.

Here's the uncomfortable truth. You're an unglamorous small club who haven't won a single domestic honour since a the 10th anniversary of Hitler's death. You play your home games in a giant Sports Direct mug, pock marked by a ballooning number of empty grey seats. Your delusions of grandeur have relegated you - again. And what do you do? You clamour after yet another ineffectual show pony as your messiah. You twist reality until you can tell yourself that this relegation actually makes you a growing force in world football, when you think about it.

Your ambition should be to get Phil Brown in. That's your level. Local lad, knows your league. Sign Richard Keogh. An honest pro. Cheap. A battler. Maybe loan Danny Graham from us. We'll cut you a deal, we know you're skint. Aim for the play offs. You won't get there, but having an achievable target might stop the rot.

2017/18 will be tough, what with the relegated clubs' £100m parachute payments. But hold firm. By 2020/21 you've got a winning formula. Siem De Jong is on fire! You're in the Play Off Final!

OK, so you lose against AFC Wimbledon, but it was a honour to play a part in their fairytale. And who needs the Premier League?! The Championship is real football, and Big Philly Brown is one of wuh.
How f***ing dare you! Browny is a sandie Sunderland supporter
