Having been down there recently I can promise you, that league is not all Sky make it out to be. Every year it's competitive, every year the promoted sides are favourites for the drop the subsequent May. Your man Allardyce cruised the Championship with West Ham, Chris Hughton cruised the Championship with us. Our biggest challenge could be Aston Villa. If these new Chinese investors get it right they could match us stride for stride.

I agree. A team with momentum or a couple of decent players at that level (as Newcastle have) can walk it.

Newcastle will pay to get out of that league asap. We've £40m in the bank, say we make another £20m in player sales (not unlikely if all our players are off as you suggest), that's £60m we can spend before needing to go into debt. I don't think we will, but that's the financial position we're in.

Yous come back up f***ing years back man, it's a different league and yous had a decent spine made up of English players who knew the score, not now lad different type of squad and the league is very different it's why I was dreading it.
 
Leeds, some of the younger posters won't realise just how big a club they were, once they went down the decent players all left and the ones recruited weren't good enough to get them up again, and now they languish in the championship owned by a mad Italian with no stability at all.
I hope this is what happens to the arrogant tossers.

Not that long in the lifetime of a football club. We were back 10/11, that's only 5 years ago. People keep talking about the English spine, but Colo, Jonas, Enrique and Lovenkrands were integral in our promotion and that vaunted English spine were part of the reason we went down in the first place. Owen, Nolan, Butt, Smith, Taylor, Harper, all played their part in our relegation 08/09.

I think you'll be in a decent position to come back. You just won't be walking the league like you did last time. Next season, there's going to be times when questions are asked of the squad's character and commitment. This season, they've completely failed when those questions were asked of them. You're going to have to hope that the likes of Colback, Shelvey, Dummett and Taylor step up to the plate and drag your lot back to the Premier League like Barton, Nolan and Carroll did. They can certainly do it, but if those were our core of experienced English players, I wouldn't be particularly confident.

Unless they stop buying players as an investment only and get players who have been there and done it then it will only get worse.
 
There's every possibility of a financial meltdown bearing in mind they spunked over 80 million on a bunch of players who think they are better than they are.

i agree with you there, its rare to bounce straight back... i know they did it once last time, but i think their team needs a bigger overhaul this time round. mind, i think villa could go straight through the championship and out the bottom....

I think with the right addition (whoever that may be) will be vital. We've got players who've got versions of "character". Colback is an idiot, but he runs about for the cause...I suppose. Mitrovic will fight for every point, but those fights will end up with him missing a few games. Lascelles is a future captain imo. Shelvey is gutless and I wouldn't be surprised if he jumped ship. Dummett is local and gets it, he's pretty limited though. We need a proper leader, I wonder if de Jong could be that. Who knows.

We did that when we were down there last time, no reason to expect that would change.

I think it's rare for clubs like Bournemouth or Norwich to bounce straight back up, but for teams like West Ham and ourselves it's easier. Clubs like that have usually been relegated because of gutless mercenaries and mismanagement, whereas teams who've worked their bollocks off all season and still go down have a harder job of returning.

You`re going completely into the unknown really. Either some, most or none of the decent players wont be around come May, maybe the manager wont either.

I`d be nowhere near as confident.
