Leics in ECB bail out

Guessing it's easy to follow precedent and dock points, not really going to impact them like with us in div 1 at the time.

I suppose they just need to recognise there is a problem and without these bail outs, counties will disappear at some point

Just makes you wonder ……

a county gets into trouble … the main reason is obvious and it's not to do with bad management it's not enough people going to watch them.

So, the response of the authorities is to fine them or dock points to make recovery even harder than it was before, makes investment even more difficult, will produce worse results on the pitch and therefore gives even less reason for punter to pay at the turnstiles.

Perhaps what the ECB should do is --- take over management (for a period of time), instead of taking money away invest instead but ensure the cash injection is spent wisely. And then after a number of years once the County is back on it's feet leave them to it.

Fantastic post this Bri.

Regarding Leicester, I hope they don’t get any points docked, for many of the reasons Bri alluded to - it’s hardly going to help them get back on their feet.

And then of course there’s the simple fact that two wrongs don’t make a right. Our punishment was a disgrace and for me FTECB were guilty of bringing the game into disrepute with their mishandling of the situation.

How much money do counties get per season from FTECB by the way? Does anyone know?

It varies year to year circa £1.7-£1.3m depending on how much revenue ECB generate the previous season and how many England qualified players you field. Also get compensation for players selected for England. Generally, therefore, Durham do better than most.
Leicester will do comparatively poorly on the above criteria.

Nationalise them!!!!!

Joking aside, I think that’s a great idea

Going off that I think the counties should get a million more apiece, FTECB could easily afford it and let’s face it, they’d be protecting their asset.

No counties, no England.

A 2nd division county should be able to be run on £3 million a year. Half of that from the ECB and the other half from membership and commercial activities/sponsorship.
