Resources stretched so tight but decide to plug gaps with old mates and loans. Doesn’t bode well for lads contracted who need a chance. Maybe they aren’t quite ready but still must dent conifidence especially when players aren’t performing. Should of used the competition to blood some young players, who are hungry for the club

Conveniently ignoring his valuable batting contribution which made the score line respectable. I also notice you haven't commented on yet another very good bowling performance by Ryan Pringle..
its more the fact you slate lewis all the time and you think you know it all plus you were talking about his bowling before, noticed you went quiet the other day when you were talking about us winning 2 out of 3 with steel opening yes we did but nothing to do with his contributions. I praised pringle the other day get of your high horse.

you just don't change do you?:lol:
not really just know it all people slagging the coach of for everything just admit we are not good enough.

Before you go back on block. I offer an opinion like everyone else, nothing more nothing less, mostly based on what i see in attendance at the games live. Yes i was mainly commenting on bowling for McCarthy but he went for 50 runs tonight not great, but hit a valuable amount of runs. Personally I'm delighted he played tonight and hope to see the development of more our contracted players in the first team. Steel contributed more with the bat than Collingwood opening and as I've mentioned I would rather see us play with a more sensible batting line up as opposed to opening with someone who has opened a few times in 19 years. I think we are better for that and would rather we persist with Steel opening. You havent praised Pringle tonight.... As for Lewis he won't be getting any praise off me at present, results business we very rarely win games, I'd gladly see Lewis leave tomorrow. Anyway back on block you go but hope soon enough you may start and put some £££ into the club.

Yes but the purpose of a coach is to improve performance so that they are good enough or find players who are good enough to replace them .

I agree but only so much you can do if you have the worst set of players.

Ha'way marra, it's an Internet forum, don't gan blocking people just cause you disagree with them. You're better than that anyway - far and away one of the most valuable people on here for me.

In fairness, Chopper has a point - McCarthy was picked for his bowling and all your argument on the other thread was based around our lads not getting chances. When he did today, he went around the park. So you've got to atleast acknowledge chop's point there.

As for McCarthy - fantastic talent, who I'm sure will do very well for us over the next couple of years. Certainly hope so anyway, but perhaps Lewis has played this one well, using our main frontline (contracted) seamers sparingly in a competition we were doomed in after the first weekend, in order to keep them fresh for the proper cricket just around the corner. Worth remembering that with his Ireland involvement, McCarthy has had about an extra month or two of cricket in 2018 than the others - perhaps he was due a rest.

Proof either way, I guess will be realised over the next couple of weeks when we face Derbyshire, Sussex and Warwickshire.

either drinking or taking the piss ?

Nor, I'm stone cold sober and being deadly serious.

im trying to get better people on here make it tough blocking people is childish but fair enough I disagree with you sometimes on here but your getting better and even if I do at least you can have a reasonable debate which is fair enough.

How can you say Lewis has played this one well? It's June 7th, we've finished finished bottom of the 1 day cup table, losing 6 out of 8 games and we're currently 8th out of 10 in the 4 day competition, 40 points off the lead!!! - Can't be dressed up any other way, other than very poor. 12 competitive games this season, winning only 3.

I'd hardly say "he went all around the park" mind that's a bit strong but entitled to your opinion, him and Davies made the score line respectable. If McCarthy was "due a rest" why have him as 12th man? I'm aware he's had a shoulder injury but if he's 12th man then he's fit and able enough to play, simple as that. He's our player so whether folk think he's good enough or not, I'd play him every single time over a loanee, no matter how good or bad the loanee is. Haven't looked at the stats but given his injury this season, i doubt he's had much more cricket. Either way if it's a choice between him and the 2 loanees for Saturday, I'd pick McCarthy every single time.

See what Saturday brings

Go back and read my post again, I didn't say he has played it well. I said he's PERHAPS played it well - in reference to the using our seamers sparingly bit. Cause as has been stressed quite emphatically over the last 36 hours on here: we're very very thin on the ground bowling wise. Last thing we need is more injuries to contracted bowlers in games that mean absolutely nothing.

So your little rant about the season so far is irrelevant in response to what I actually said.

In terms of 12th man duties, do I have to explain to you the intricacies of twelfth man duties? You do realise that by going twelfth man you get more rest than if you had to bat, field and bowl as many as 10 overs.......? A player with an injury record like his, presumably needs his workload managing - Lewis has done that this week and lo and behold he will be available for selection for Saturday - if he was injured he wouldn't be available would he?

Is it totally against your morals and principles to just admit that perhaps Lewis HAS indeed done some good here?

If it's McCarthy versus two loanees for a place in the side on Saturday I absolutely agree with you, if fit, BM has to play. But that has never been the discussion here has it? To be frank, I think you realise it hasn't, but unfortunately you keep skirting round the issues people put forward to you that you don't really like because it undermines your vendetta against Lewis. I think that you consistently miss the points put to you, if it doesn't tally in with what you want to see.

So answer me these simple questions, if you would:

Was Lewis right to protect our seamers in meaningless one day games this week?

Was Lewis (and the club) right to look to bring in players to strengthen our bowling resources?

Well he hasn't played it well has he... The tables dont lie. We've just finished bottom of the one day cup, absolutely embarrassing. Yes I was happy to see players like Rushy and Rimmington not involved this week, I said after Friday, play the academy lads. Playing Richardson has back fired today. I've answered the loanee question several times already. "Doesn't tally with what I want to see". What I want to see is Durham doing well, what I'm currently seeing this season and many parts of last season has been a complete embarrassment littered with bizarre decisions. Of course Lewis has done some good at the club, so has David Harker if we are playing that game just for consistency. I'm fully aware of how 12th man duties work. My rant(s) about this season are fully justified, league tables dont lie. I'd be lying if I said I was looking forward to the T20.
