Leicester - was it worth it?

100%.

Controversial but I'd take what happened to Wigan - win a cup, get relegated - in a flash.

The league is generally pretty boring. Cup glory lasts forever.
That used to be the case but the FA and league cups are such ‘small potatoes’ these days.
Most neutral fans forget the the most recent winners
I suppose it’s a jolly boys day out in that London

Of course it was worth it.
Since we last won a major trophy they have won The League Cup twice, The FA Cup and The Premier League. They have also fought their way out of L1 and into the Prem and played Champions League football.
For a club of their size and history it's absolutely brilliant.

Everyone reminisces about the playoffs last year and the lasting memories they have created for all of us Sunderland fans. Its like having pure euphoria injected into your veins and every time I watch Ballards header or Tommy's goal to Rocket Man, it still brings me pure joy and elation.

Imagine that with a PL title or Champions League nights man. It would be last May on steroids.

I'd take it in a heartbeat.

True, everyone remembers who finishes 11th in the PL.

I'll never forget where we finished in the league we got to the LC final under Poyet. So memorable.

I want top flight stability and cups. Don't think I'm being greedy and unrealistic either. This is Sunderland AFC we're talking about. Looks like our owner thinks the same way too.

I’d love to see Man City go the same way. Unfortunately the big five will continue to get away with doing what they want.

Since I started watching football in 1995 I’d have rather been a Leicester City fan than a Manchester City fan. I’d absolutely hate to be a soulless shell of a club expecting 2/3 trophies a season now.

a better question would be would it be worth it if they end up going bust chasing the high

I think I'd still rather taste the glory just the once but would be some comedown ending up following a Phoenix club in the Parks leagues

Seeing your side win the Premier League and then follow up with a few seasons in Europe including a quarter final in the Champions league.

I honestly would take 20 years in the lower leagues if I could witness us achieve what they’ve done.

Some will argue long term stability trumps short term success but those memories will last a lifetime to Leicester fans, isn’t that what sport is all about?
Yes, absolutely. Bring on the phoenix club. 😂

Definitely worth it but it would still be tough to take if we did what Leicester did in winning a league, an FA Cup, and finishing in the top 10 for 5 seasons in a row, to end up in League One you'll be thinking what a fuck up that was.

"If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor"

The league title and F.A. Cup wins will be in the record books forever.

No one will remember them being in L1 when they're back competing at their natural level of top end of the Championship/bottom half of PL.

Not if we end up going bust or selling the ground.

Fuck it, I'd take that too.

2 seasons of glory, one to win the double and the second to see the lads in Europe and after that go bust.

Absolute glory and then ended spectacularly.

I'd then either give up footy or follow AFC Sunderland through 10 straight promotions.

As a side note - I’ve always found it weird (and annoying) that Leicester have added to their honours so much in my time following football.

Sunderland are a “bigger” club than them by most matrices but go on Wikipedia and you’ll see their list of:

Premier League
FA Cup
League Cup x2
Charity Shield

all since 1997. Since then both them and us have been in the Premier League 17 times out of 30 seasons and we’ve got 1 league cup final appearance to show for it :-(
Aye but we get bigger crowds 😂😂😂😂

I’ve said this before but I recollect, when supporting the club as a teenager, thinking/believing that our glory days were behind us. We’d not won anything since the fa cup in 1937. When I was 17 that was 36 frigging years ago ffs. It was pre-bloody war. A different world.

Then, when I was 17 we won the fa cup. And I was there. It was a new bright and shiny world and things were on the up. Surely the glory days were returning.

That was 50 (fifty) years ago.

Makes you think [insert le tissier meme]

(I’ve left the Reid years out of it coz that was obviously an eddy in the space/time continuum)
