Leicester - was it worth it?

Its not providing them huge comfort right now. I didn't see anyone laughing about 2016 when I tuned in to see them getting relegated. It was toxic, they are very unhappy. But I'd still say yes.

As a side note - I’ve always found it weird (and annoying) that Leicester have added to their honours so much in my time following football.

Sunderland are a “bigger” club than them by most matrices but go on Wikipedia and you’ll see their list of:

Premier League
FA Cup
League Cup x2
Charity Shield

all since 1997. Since then both them and us have been in the Premier League 17 times out of 30 seasons and we’ve got 1 league cup final appearance to show for it :-(
It’s got to be our time a some point surely

I’ve already watched us week in week out in the trenches of League 1 without a title win to show for it, so assuming we wouldn’t disappear off the face of the earth entirely then I’d absolutely take it.

Of course.

Offer me that now and I'd snap it up. Most likely outcome is we have a few years as a mid table club and end up yo-yoing again for the rest of my life. At best maybes pick up a League Cup.

All you want is to see your club win a trophy and they’ve won the two biggest, domestically. I’d take never getting back to the top flight in my lifetime for one of them.
It’s ninety years since we won the league and over fifty, the cup. They won both in four years.
2013, they beat City in added time through a Ben Watson header.
My Wigan mate said he’d happily spend the rest of his days in the lower leagues after witnessing that.

Absolutely snap your hands off.

Wonder how many of the "concentrate on the league" brigade who were out in force before our FA cup matches this season think the same

Looking back, it’s staggering to believe that Leicester won the PL.

Probably only Greece winning the Euros and Forest winning back to back European Cups comes close achievements-wise in my lifetime.

I think it was a mix between losing their owner in that helicopter crash and the financial issues around King Power. I’m not sure what it would’ve taken for them to stay in the top flight, perhaps they could’ve tried to follow
Bournemouths model
Yeah or Brighton who are a similar sized club I’d argue in terms of fan base. Perhaps you could argue Leicester are a bigger club as they’ve actually won a few trophies.

Not sure what went wrong there tbh as they picked up the likes of Mahrez, Vardy and Kante for next to nowt. Their DoF went to Everton but didn’t last long.

Their team that got relegated in 2022/23 should never have gone down really. They’d finished 8th the season before and were better than 18th. They stuck with Rodgers too long and then appointed Dean Smith.

I’ve seen all our relegations since 1985. I’d live them all again to experience what Leicester fans have had in the last decade.

Of course we'd all take what Leicester are going through right now for what they've won. They'll come back one day as 99% of clubs do.

Imagine Sunderland just winning a League Cup never mind the much more prestigious FA Cup or, be still my beating heart, the Premier League.

Not sure I'd live much longer than a week after the celebrations but ha'way man, football is all about winning.

Seeing your side win the Premier League and then follow up with a few seasons in Europe including a quarter final in the Champions league.

I honestly would take 20 years in the lower leagues if I could witness us achieve what they’ve done.

Some will argue long term stability trumps short term success but those memories will last a lifetime to Leicester fans, isn’t that what sport is all about?

^THIS, except I wouldnt go on other forums and gloat when we are at the top part of the cycle (remember poster LeicesterFan or something like that?)

Absolutely 100% it will have been worth it.

Most fans will not see their team win a League or the F.A cup in their lifetime.

I am convinced you will do the Leicester, but just in the opposite order.

Of course it was worth it give me the 6/7 year they had from 2015 any time and I’ll spend years in the lower leagues after
