Given the limited talent the focus was on defensive solidity, measured pressing from the midfield and Perez, width provided by wingbacks when possible, Rondon to hold the ball up to bring Perez, Almiron, Atsu into play. Against the top sides kill the game aside from spells at the beginning an end of each halfs, depending on the scoreline.
