League One Clowns - Where Are They Now?

I wish I could hang onto this hatred as well, I'm too focused on the here and now. Don't even dislike Coventry or Boro anymore, and I found Portsmouth fans absolutely sound down there last season.
I remember some posters on here looking forward to the 3rd division because of the stories from the time the that division in the 80’s it was horrendous then, I was at Wigan etc and it wax always going to be horrendous this time. The fact we were there for four years was more about this club than the teams we played

Given how well we are doing, it's a good time to check in and see how the clubs and fanbases that went on like complete and utter idiots during our League One days are doing.

Wigan - "stole" Charlie Wyke from us as they were a bigger club IIRC. The payment issues were just "administrative errors". Funny how that bloke hasn't posted on here in about 3 years. Currently 17th in League One.

Wycombe - "this is our house and you play by our rules". Remember that clown? 11th in League One.

Rotherham - team full of ex-Mags who loved nothing more than wheeling out the Shearer celebration. Wonder if they're still at it as the score to drag themselves up to their current position of 13th in League One?

Peterborough - The club who Darragh MacAnthony used to make up nonsense about turning down a (non existent) massive bid for one of their players from us in every single transfer window. Not sure he can do that any more now we're signing players like Xhaka. 21st in League One and heading for relegation.

Accrington Stanley - abandoning a game and then charging our fans again to attend to take advantage of and rip a few quid off our superb away support. Now 17th in League Two! Surprised they didn't do more with the extra cash.

Oxford - Karl Robinson calling the police. Enough said.

Portsmouth - one of the most horrible worst sets of supporters you will ever find. And that Marcus bloody Harness.

And a special mention to:

Luton - who could forget Luton? That bloke who was coming on here with his "Prem Update" thread, only to them end up back in League One whilst we look comfortable in the Premier League, having accumulated more points in 13 games than they got in 29 and we are now just 4 points off their entire PL season total with 25 games to play. They're just outside the League One playoffs now, so maybe "The Kenny" will be fortunate enough to witness Championship football again next season.

There was a time when this place was infested by fans on the above clubs. Funny how we haven't heard from any of them in quite a while.

The cream always eventually rises to the top.

And yes, I am bitter and no, I won't move on.
Character building!

Every team time wasting from the 1st minute, the standard of officiating. A mag reffing one of our games

Mags attending home and away games, Shrewsbury being the main occasion.

Wigan fans denying their owner wasn’t an and complete utter chancer after failing to pay wages for months and months upon end.

“It was a bank holiday”

“It was the weekend”

Oxford ringing the police.

Not bitter, just correct. Well said.

Just going to add a special mention.

Tom Flanagan, whinging on a podcast a few months ago that he was let go by us. This from a bloke who was dropped at one time or other for… Alim Ozturk. Also coming out with stuff how Luke O’Nien is ‘busy’ I think the term is amongst bitter, less professional ex pro’s.

O’Nien’s still here. He’ll play in the Premier League and played a big part of us getting here. He has two years of Prem money to look forward to even though he’s not played yet.

Tom is turning out for Colchester in League Two…
Any idea how Ozturk is getting on.
I liked him.

And now we move onto liars

A lot of clubs have arsehole fans but most who follow lower league teams are proper football lads who are loyal to their clubs despite them having almost zero chance of every having a sniff of the Premier league. They could easily become plastic Man City or Arsenal fans but they dont. There are exceptions of course like Bournemouth. I do think though that it would do some clubs fans good to experience a period in the lower leagues especially our neighbours up the road. Just reigns in the entitlement a bit.
👏👏👏👏

Love this.

The main person and team I remember from league one is Conor mcgrandles. That midweek game with the Maguire hat trick. Mcgrandles waving to the south stand as they celebrated a goal. Wonder where he is now.
All of those donkeys who had their big moment at our expense. The footballing equivalent of khazi cleaners wallowing in the football sewers of the lower leagues
We were there because we absolutely deserved to be of course, but there was a few seasons of Barnsley fans on here slyly giving it the biggun about them and their 'model' Loads of other clubs too but I remember them particularly.
Ah yes Barnsley. The arsehole of South Yorkshire

To me it feels a bit like we were the posh rich people who accidentally turned up at a commoners party and they just spent the entire night taking the piss out of us.

Maybe playing you in the FA Cup not such a good idea then.
Right Preston away it shall be. (Will get beat by Bolton anyway, maybe next season, or the one after that).

Big Clubs like Sunderland and Wednesday will always find their true level. Just be grateful for a decent owner that doesn’t take you to the gutter.

As a contrast the Chesterfield fans I met Saturday were class, all mixing in the pub, no bother and plenty of laughs - the way it should be.

Honestly I know what it’s like living with just hope. When the away following at Swindon gets announced for clubs like Harrogate. “The away support 76” Many in our end get up, cheer and applaud.
Just be careful what you wish for and the bad times make the good times better, isn’t that’s what they say.

“League One, League One, what about League Two.” Wanna go to Barrow?
“Do we have to?”
“Come on it will be a laugh.”
“How we getting there.”
“Same as last time, and before that time.”
