Obviously would prefer him in the side.

But with respect to him, don’t think he is a match winner or a player that would decide a series or make the difference between winning or losing.

Must be horrible for him personally though

Yeah he's not likely to be taking 5fers etc but he would be effective at holding an end for long periods and allowing the quicks to rotate. Not sure who can come in now and be reliable

Took the most wickets in the world last year and bowled 200 overs more than anyone else

We literally have nobody to replace him with

Absolutely if Hazelwood can’t play for them I know it’s a big if, that’s a bigger blow imo for them than Leach for us imo
 
I wouldn't bother with another spinner, not convinced any of them are good enough. We could do with a couple of the Aussie attack falling apart in the test v India

I think it’s fair to say he is better bowler mate.

But yeah can’t really compare a fast bowler and a spinner

So I know what you saying we don’t have many other spinners so I agree a loss.

Just don’t think as big a loss as some do just my opinion.

I have been on record before saying I am not a particular fan on his, so am going to suddenly change that view and make out it is a disaster he is not there, although like I say I agree a loss

I think Leach in the side mainly because of the fact we don’t have many other spinners like you say, not because he a match winning spinner.

Not getting into a massive argument mate.

Just have a different view from you on the effectiveness of Leach if that ok?

However I do agree with you he has been improving and getting better this last year under Stokes and McCullum.

That’s the beauty of them two, they have this canny knack of getting all the talent out of players and getting them playing better
 
The odds are with the pre ashes patter that Stokes wants fast and true surfaces .

now in the last few years cricket in red ball outside of tests, is not played in July so it’s unlikely they will be able to pluck a spinner that’s in current form

so I feel it will be an all seam attack, with woakes added, to Anderson, Robinson, wood , broad, in this first test with the odd spare over being bowled by root and stokes

they will if bowling last be expecting some reverse swing and un even bounce
