Last night result

There was nowt 'bad luck' about last night. RLB was schooled by a coach who changed his set up to counter the opposition and put them in a position to score with every attack.

Losing 0-5 at home isn't just "one of them things" and I'd be concerned if the squad or management are thinking that way.

I think the OP is suggesting we might be thinking we need to strengthen more than we expected not that recruitment hasnt worked, rip it up and go back to signing the modern day Jack Rodwell.

I don't doubt that we'd be looking to strengthen regardless like.

I hope to Christ the players arent thinking "ah well just bad luck innit" and they're angry and determined to sort it out.

Yes the players all need to take a hard look at themselves and ask why it happened, (though I suspect the virus rumours likeley played a large part) but ultimately we didn’t actually play that bad. Forest were just absolutely lethal in the finishing of their few chances.

I think I was watching an echo video the other week on youtube and the line was something like £20 Million being a big chunk of our money, maybe in relation to Gertruida not sure. If £20 Million is a big / significant chunk then we are in trouble. We need back up Xhaka and future replace,ment hope he lasts but he is not going to go on for years. Same with Reinildo as getting on and Cirkin doesn't really cut it imho.
January we bought in Angulo another young player to prove himself, he looks decent and older than Talbi, but a player along similar signing lines.
The other was Ta Bi a gamble cheap buy who Celtic were balking at due to his ankle, strangely been out with ankle. He didn't look anywhere near prem ready, nerves played a part but couldn't take a corner.
Ellborg who again doesn't look ready so another prospect.
At the same time Bournemouth bought Rayan a right sided player that we desperately needed. More money than Angulo, but had been hyped a bit more and was better thought of. He has for the most part hit the ground running and looks a decent buy.
We need to buy quality as best we can, KLD brought in Xhaka, who in turn brought in Mukiele both up there as our best buys. We got Roefs as 3rd choice after the other 2 went elsewhere.
Talbi seems to be in RLB bad books
Adringa didn't really work out
A couple of players fans like maybe sold the big question is will their replacements be better, if not we will never hear the end of it.

RLB wasn't 'schooled' at all. Individual errors and deflections can't be blamed on RLB.

So the game had nowt to do with tactical systems and it was purely because we woke up on Friday and forgot how to pass the ball?

They went 2 up front which meant we never had a spare centre half like we usually do so regardless of which way we play out we were instantly under pressure. Their midfield 4 were compact which meant there was a 4v3 at all times in midfield which meant we couldnt play into midfield and then into Brobbey. We had a left footer at right back which meant everything down the left was coming inside into the most congested area of the pitch where they could pinch and counter attack at speed. The only solution was to bypass our defence and midfield and hit Brobbey early but naturally that goes against everything Regis stands for and it required getting players close to Brobbey which never happens either so we just continued to do everything that wasnt working. Eventually (when we were 0-4 down) Sadiki started to drop in between the centre halves to occupy one of the strikers and free one of our centre halves so it was a 3v2 in our favour which forced their forwards to drop off. When overloads are created, individual mistakes are forced. When individual mistakes are being forced, the players need the manager to change it up. We should have went man for man, 442, once we noticed what was happening after 5 minutes and just had everyone winning their dual after their direct opponent. If we didnt fancy making an early change then push Diarra up with Brobbey, tuck the wingers in and get some joy out of a midfield 4 that were winning everything because of their numerical advantage even just for 5-10 minutes to unsettle them and try and gain some control.
