The post punk pop Sinatra. Superb vocals and superb songs. Former Bourgie Bourgie vocalist. The lad had the pipes and the looks but not the sales. Whatever happened to him? Last I heard he’d made a record with Vince Clarke when he was doing individual one off singles with singers like Fergal Sharkey etc.

Only found out about this late last year, might even have been on here. Superb, largely 1950s sounding Chicago blues style, no long self important solos and amped harmonica.

I'm a big fan of Simon Aldred's songwriting although he and the band seem to have disappeared in recent years. Saw them supporting Doves in 2009 and was mighty impresed

Listened to James' new album today "yummy". Some good songs but also some that the lyrics were weak on imo. Nice sound though and an enjoyable listen.
