you'd think so, unless they move mustard even further up the order

Not shocked to see Smith not in the team, he's struggling badly with the bat at the moment.

Batting order IMO unless Mustard opens instead of Borthwick

Mustard hasn't really done much with the bat of late either though. I wouldn't want Scotty up there, his spell at three didn't really work for him and it seemed like they were just mucking him about! I reckon Jennings could have the patience and technique to open. I'd also like to see Colly at 3 if Jennings is to open.

For me -

Rocky
Jennings
Colly
Stokes
Benk
Richardson
Mustard
Borthwick
Thorp
Onions
Rushworth

Bit surprised Wood doesn't even make the squad, also interested in the inclusion of Breese - do they expect the pitch to take turn? Or is there a doubt over Scotty's fitness??!

I can't see them opening with Borthwick when Jennings used to open for the seconds (I think) and Richardson is too good a bat to have as low at 8. My prediction at the line up therefore is....

Stoneman
Jennings
Stokes
Richardson
Benks
Colly
Mustard
Borthwick
Onions
Thorp
Rushworth

Didnt want to start another thread for this but it looks like Thorp will stay another year and Plunkett and Harmison may move on:

Cant see Harmison going anywhere like with a benefit season coming up (most of it will likely be spent in London with the help of Vaughan and Flintoff) and a year left on his contract.

Plunkett like one or two others would benefit from moving on.

Agreed. DCCC seem intent every so often on pushing Borthwick up the order but it rarely works out.

Rocky needs to start performing with the bat or he will be the next one under pressure.

Rocky scored a hundred in the Notts game.

Wood is injured again.

He' starting to wear the same wig as Muchell. does not for innings after innings and then scores a hundred, sits back and puts his feet up. Needs to be consistently scoring 50+

Just read thy myself actually and was going to mention it!

Out of the two I'd actually prefer Plunkett to stay and I'd just fuck Harmison off, no doubt he just wants to milk us for what he can though and will probably retire at Durham. Hardly worth much to anyone else at his age.

As for Plunkett, as much of a twat he seems to be off the field - I think his on-field talents are worth keeping, if they can be found again that is . I'm not sure how much work he wants to put into recapturing his early career form but it baffles me how someone can be such a talent one year - who can bowl close to 90mph, bat reasonably well, with a real capability of scoring fifties in any format of cricket and also a top fielder who in his pomp used to throw himself about at gully - to basically being useless within the space of a season or two.

In hindsight maybe the only way he can be good again is to leave, get a fresh start with a new team, new coaches and new nightlife .

Really hope Harmison is no longer at Durham for next season. As you have said numerous times, Colly doesn't want Harmison around, we've both said number of times he's a bad egg in the squad and not really that well liked as he simply doesn't care.

Plunkett has thrown away his career, absolute mess and he's got no future at Durham.

Callum Thorp deserves a new contract, he works hard and consistently takes wickets and is useful at times with the bat. Will be delighted if he stays at the club, top class attitude.

Rocky is the 3rd highest run scorer in the championship this season behind Colly and Stokes, criticising him just doesn't make sense.
I honestly dont think he has got what it takes to be an opening batsman in the CC. He's nearly 26 now, has a first class average of less than 30 with no real signs that he is about to push on and do anything of much note. He's another one, like Muchell, who is more suited to the limited overs game. I wouldnt give him a CC contract.
