Aye I am thought this. Play up Pompey and that der derder der that every clubs sings. They're shite but gets everyone singing it a suppose. With large crowds like that, we were too spread out and always more difficult to get an atmosphere going. Mind, the fact we were crap from half time didn't help either.
Spread out ??

You could see people trying to get chants going, just not enough like minded in same area for it to take off so to speak.
If fans all sat down in an orderly fashion it would be easy to tip the wink to fellow fans and then even the old farts could joining in an orderly clap! !!!! !!!!!! :D

I'm certain other people were similar to myself where hangover kicked in second half along with the players giving fuck all to cheer about

In general though atmosphere was pretty wank but think that's more to do with chants dieing out so quickly in a big stadium leading to different parts of the ground singing different chants

I wasnt there but all you could hear on tv was sunderland fans first half . Even when Pompey were knocking on the door the " by far the greatest team " song could be heard above them..

It didnt help mind that all of the goalmouth action in the match was at the Pompey end of the pitch....i think our support expected to see a lot more of that after our first half dominance

I thought nerves got to our fans in the second half, you just felt an equaliser was coming. I also think that there were loads there who probably don't even know half of our team and don't know the current songs for Luke O'Nien, even the Will Grigg chant never got an airing. Somebody's got to pick the players up before Wednesday and concentrate on what is after all our main priority - automatic promotion. Mr. Ross has also to realise that draws aren't going to do it, we need to go out to win every game. FTM

Its difficult as alot of the city centre bars shut at 11 or 12

Try O'Neill's next to Leicester Sq
What trying to say is for a supposedly world class city it's hard to get a pint after 11.
