L1 Visa for US

Took a couple of visits to the US embassy in a London and a new passport. They would not accept my passport as the corner was slightly damaged. Far easier if your company does that paperwork up front so you only need to go and queue. Make sure your passport is pristine though.

Not L1 but an 02. Presume it will be the same. Ridiculously long application form with ridiculous questions. Then a visit or 2 to the embassy in London which can be an absolute ball ache. Don’t try and have a laugh/be cocky with your interviewer! From experience ;):lol:

from start to finish, was the process like 12 months? they take care of all that paperwork stuff, just curious as to what i might have to provide etc. trip to the embassy doesn't bother me like.

an o2? you cure cancer or something? :lol: the embassy is just up the river for me. i take it that its not as simple as popping in and out?

If it was 't for the new passport application probably would have taken 6 weeks from start to finish.

Haha! No I’m a roadie! No. You also need to get there earlier than your given time. The queues can be ridiculous. Also check the forbidden things. No laptops etc. Security is pretty full on.

were they in depth about background, like education, qualifications, criminal stuff etc? my pal said when he went they kept trying to trip him up when answering questions about stuff

Yes it’s very in depth. Completely ridiculous. My favourite question on the o2 form. “Are you coming to the US to commit acts of terrorism?” I’m always tempted to ask if anyone has ever said yes!
If you’ve got any criminal convictions can be a ball ache as you will then have to provide an Acro police certificate. Depending if you have any, and for what, I’d say keep quiet.

i know that works for an esta, but for a visa application i'd imagine they would do more digging.
 
Did one in 2005. It didn't take more than a couple of months. Embassy visit was a ballache for the queues, but the interview was bollocks. Five minutes and rubber stamped.

However the application was done professionally by a US immigration specialist for a global firm tfor whom I could prove that I'd worked in a professional capacity for for six years. I've got a mate who tried to get one as a fairly recent graduate working as a pension salesman for six months (ie he didn't qualify for the visa), and they sniffed him out immediately.
 
Done both E2 and L1 visa applications. As long as your application is done professionally you should be ok. Hearing that there is a big backlog at the new London US Embassy, so you my be a few months before getting an appointment.

I have a friend selling a E2 qualifying business (Dog Groomers), if anyone is interested in moving across to Florida

Belfast is a Consulate, would have to do L1 visa in London.
