KP Speaking Sense

Interesting to see what he means by points that he cannot go into at this moment when talking about last winter's ashes.

Aye, will be very interesting to hear the truth when it all eventually comes out.

Get the feeling that quite a few people in the media knew before the series that things were an absolute shambles behind the scenes, the amount of pundits who immediately after the 1st test predicted that Australia would win 5-0 would suggest they knew it was more than just a horrendous few days at the office so to speak.

There is no big secret to come out at all about the KP thing, they had put up with him for ten years and just wanted to move on without him. That's it, if you are waiting for a smoking gun then it is never going to happen, the ECB have already stated this, there is no hidden secret, downton even broke the confidentiality clause to say it.

KP has his time and I am glad he is gone, we managed him for a decade and he was very very lucky to be brought back in after the texting stuff. He was brought back in by Cook and Prior by the way, the very people him and his buddy Morgan constantly slag off. He should be grateful that they got him another 2 years of test cricket, because the ECB wanted rid. If he was at his very best then you could argue he might be worth the hassle, but he himself is on the decline, and when he stops becoming the match winner then he isn;t worth the trouble. We have had 4 young players make test centuries in the last test series, lets focus on the future instead of caring what on earth this egotistical arsehole thinks.

Should have never been brought back. Once they did bring him back, they handled it terribly leading to where we are currently

Agree he shouldn't have been brought back. Not the player that people make him out to be at anything other than T20. He's hardly said anything that people didn't already know there. Him and his mate Morgan are rancid and I also wish he would f**k off back to SA.

Biggest problem is that the ECB have backed Cook to the hilt in getting rid of KP and all the changes in staff have come with Cook's approval, they'd look like mugs if they sacked him as captain so it's all down to Cook who doesn't seem to be in any mood for jumping. Not sure how Moores and Saker are getting away scot free at the moment (in the press), surely they have as much of a say in tactics as Cook.

I agree with KP's article and also Warne's the day before.
And I've just found this article too, so it looks like some people are starting to look elsewhere but again the article seems to be spot on.

I think its fair enough to dislike Pietersen's character but the bolded statement isn't true.

A test match average of 47+, 23 centuries and over 8k test runs suggests he was a world class Test batsman

When he first came on the scene he was world class (one of the best batsmen in the world) but since 2009 in the second half of his career he's averaged 43.92 in tests and 32.33 in ODI's. I don't think he could be considered one of the best in the world during this period.

That's not to say I don't think he was destructive and wouldnt be in my England team based on talent alone but he has too much baggage and I'm happy he's out of the team.

Not referring so much to the Pietersen shambles, think that's probably merely the tip of the iceberg of what went on out there.

Agree with a lot of what you say, but the way he was scapegoated was an absolute shambles. Having said that, he pretty much proved his critics' point when he was leaking stuff to his mouthpiece Morgan. One of those situations where nobody involved comes out of it well.

Good point yeah

I know people think he was made a scapegoat but I think they wanted to move on anyway, honestly think we have a shed load if batsmen who are coming through who deserve a shot. Taylor, Vince, Morgan etc not even in the squad

Think the team looks very promising, can't wait for India series

:eek::lol:

We're going to get mauled. Agree that there are a lot of promising batsmen, the bowling and captaincy situation is a cause for much concern though.

Not convinced Morgan is a test cricketer though.

He clearly thought Cook wasn't up to the job.....which he isn't.

Not sure about mauled, but the Indians have a very formidable looking batting line up. That combined with some promising young seam bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one in particular to keep an eye on, plus the quality spin options......

......aye mauled

Fuck off with your laughing.

If we can score big first innings scores we have a chance, India's attack is poor

I didn't say would we would in but think there were plenty of positives , all the players who came in performed very well

All I said I was looking forward to it, take it you won't be watching then

Sri Lanka's attack is 'poor'.
