Koeman gone

totally disagree , he was given virtually a blank cheque book , has a decent squad of players to work with and has made a pigs ear of it. In fact if you read his CV , after a promising start at most of his clubs all of em went quickly downhill under him and he has numerous sackings.

Most managers have had numerous sackings.

Tuchel is a good manager, never lost at home as Dortmund manager in the bundesliga. They’ve already lost at home this season.
Only got sacked through a fall out with the board.

Tricky one for managers considering Everton. Top of the second tier in recent seasons but a glass ceiling that is beyond them on current finances. And if Lukakus goals were the main reason for them finishing above the rest its unlikely they will find a similar replacement. Anyway they tried to shaft English football pre-Premier so no sympathy they fell behind.

Disagree, Chelsea were much better.
Much, much or just much better?

Evertonians are perennially in denial about the fact the best they can hope for is best of the rest, without a massive injection of ill-gotten funds

I can see what you're saying if you mean challenging long term, at the very top. But if Koeman had spent the money more wisely, and prioritised actually bringing in striker or two (rather than talking about it and failing) I don't think challenging for 5th/6th would have been too outrageous a target. Liverpool's back 5 is poor and will cost them a place in the top 4 this season.

As for the game the other night, Everton offered nothing in the first half and Chelsea were comfortable, but 2nd half we were quite clearly the better team and created about 4 or 5 very good chances. We were unlucky in that 2nd half, but Chelsea have players who know how to kill teams off and we didn't have enough to take it to extra time.

Yeah, but I was thinking top four. Moyes left behind a really, really good squad that was put together at a very reasonable price and I think Martinez undid all of those years of hard work.

As much as Koeman has been getting the blame, Roberto is perhaps more responsible for how it has turned out.

Now Koeman and the director of football compounded things in a big way this summer. They needed a striker, but Ronald was more interested in his handicap.

Funnily enough I think the best candidate would be Moyes, as he is a known quantity, is still young and knows the club inside out.

I don't think they will take him on though, and they will go down the foreign route again, perhaps Tuchel. I think he will prove as ineffective as Klopp long term, as he is just a coach rather than a manager.

Dyche could also he a good option, but the fans see him as Moyes Mk II, as if that is a bad thing.

It is worth bearing in mind Chelsea played much of their reserves

Everton played Lennon , Kenny,Davies , some 19yr midfielder, McCarthy and Mirallas 6 players who’ve barely featured this season so you could say they played their reserves too going off this season

True, but I would argue MCarthy and Miralles should be in or around the first team, while Lennon is also a good player.

The 19yearold is also a prospect Unsworth has been pushing to get into the full team, so it is not a case of just playing their poor players.

Tom Davies should also arguably be a starter

He was underwhelming at Dortmund imo

Surely you're not out of debt if the new owner has shifted the debt to himself via a loan. It still needs paying by the club regardless of the interest rate

I think any owner will borrow or lend money to the value of the club (value depends on income). Pompey got into trouble when they borrowed massively in excess of their value. And so did other clubs that went into administration. The other problem arises when the owner wants to jump ship.

I see a few clubs wisely investing and going into debt when the glimpse the top six (Bolton), or desperate to avoid relegation (QPR).

excludes debts of Championship clubs which are the most unsustainable.
