What about chucking away a bit of plastic that works perfectly well.

Look mr Davison this is a joke and you are alienating and being discriminatory to a lot of supporters.

If you are not mr Davison I would have hoped supporters would have shown some empathy and understanding to fellow supporters who may not be tech savvy but unfortunately it looks like have some uncaring twats amongst our support.

Not sure mate, I did notice that the link about Leeds said you could transfer tickets but only if they were linked to your account, which suggests you can't just screenshot. Longer term I know the club does want that kind of security. I don't get the impression they mind people loaning out their season card for a match, they just want to know who is taking it. I think the new system they're installing will be more future proofed in terms of secure entry, but not sure what system they'll use in the first instance. Would be good if they communicated this sort of thing!

Again though, just to clarify that I don't have much in the way of details about it. I know it's digital only, I know those without smart phones will be catered for, I know it's a new system but beyond that I'm as eager for their next release as anyone else, there's a lot of queries they need to be clarifying
 
Its estimated that 95% of the population will be using smartphones by 2025 (it was 85% last year).

We will have to bite the bullet at some stage.

To be honest I'm pretty sure (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that Wembley was purely digital for the play off final. I know that not everyone was able to get there, so there's definitely season card holders who need to be supported, but that would suggest that the vast majority will be able to use digital tickets. The main thing for me is that the club need to issue the confirmation that those who can't will still get in, and they shouldn't charge these people any extra

Wembley you could print at home as well, although they charged you £1.50 for the privilege

Watford, years ago. QPR also i believe.

Edit: i think watford made exceptions for disabled supporters etc. SAFC are yet to release their full details on it and only an initial press release but i would imagine they will include it. people look too much into things and can't wait to be outraged. I was talking to my pal whos a ST holder at watford and he couldn't believe we hadn't done this already.

i'm as environmentally aware as the next man, and fully believe in climate change, but that line is absolute bullshit when used as an excuse for this.

1 - 26000 cards already exist, they are in peoples possession, paid for and manufactured and are of use to people, the club seemingly want every single one of these to go in the bin after the last home game of the season unnecessarily. they could be kept, and used, for the next decade

2- to give some sort of proportion, there are 1000s and 1000s of single use plastic glasses used every single home at SoL . one home game will produce more plastic waste than every season ticket combined.

its all about proportionate responses to problems, and using the environmental line with this issue is taking people for fools.

i'd like to see the breakdown of how many people at the playoff final last year chose to print their tickets off rather than scan in. there was 50 in our group and we all had them printed.

if the club offer someway of 'printing off' your season ticket that would be a massive help

or, outrageous i know, if they just allowed people to continue using the cards THAT THEY ALREADY f***ing HAVE that would be very convenient

In terms of the cards, I can only assume that they want to move to this new system and the current cards aren't compatible with it. Otherwise it does seem strange not to at least allow both for a season, if only because at least then if there's an issue it isn't affecting everyone!

I'd forgotten that we could print Wembley tickets and agree, would be good to know how many actually used the purely digital option.
 
I think a reasonable compromise would to be to have the option to reactivate your existing physical card but any new/replacement season cards would be issued digitally only from next season.

That way existing cardholders aren't having this change pushed on them against their will and any new season cardholders know what's required for entry into the stadium.

at the minute you can scan your ST card, or use a ticket from the ticket office, or use a QR code that they send you via email... seems madness to take all three of those options away in one swoop.

surely that would mean they need to rip out every turnstile scanner and put a new one in? great for the environment that

Probably like me, just uses it when out and about to receive calls. I get a call from EE now and then but just send a text to my mrs and that keeps them happy.
