Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

I didn't have anything to drink and it definitely did feel as though it was swaying.
Ok on way to game with less folk on it but 100% that bridge was moving on the way back.
Was definitely swaying on the way back after the game, felt like being on a boat, weird as f*ck...plenty of others saying the same, very strange sensation.

Definitely was swaying on the way back after game.
It was indeed. Not sure I’ll use it on the way back after beating the mags 😁

The tarmac and paving just seems to be random?!

Is it in a particular pattern?
I think its supposed to look like the keel of a ship? It just looks cheap juxtaposed next to fine quality paving!I cannot believe tarmac was in the original proposal ,perhaps someone itk (there is always one on here) would like to comment?

LiveScore Fanzone – What’s On

12.00pm – Fanzone Opens

The celebrations begin in Keel Square with appearances from Sunderland legends Kevin Phillips and Kevin Ball. Supporters can enjoy live music from local buskers, face painters, club mascots, giveaways courtesy of LiveScore, and classic Sunderland moments on the big screens.

1.30pm – Official Opening of the Keel Crossing Bridge

The Keel Crossing bridge will be officially opened, offering fans a new route from the city centre to the Stadium of Light and forming a key part of the new matchday experience.

2.00pm – Fan Walk-Up

Supporters are invited to join the walk-up to the Stadium of Light, complete with flags from This is Wearside and drums to create a vibrant and united pre-match atmosphere.

2.20pm – Arrival at the Stadium Footprint

The fan walk will reach the Stadium of Light ahead of kick-off, where fans can visit our brand-new retail units positioned on the south side of the stadium, open for matchday shopping before taking their seats.

This Saturday represents a new chapter in Sunderland’s matchday experience – one that brings together the city and the stadium.

Arrive early, wear your colours with pride, and help create another unforgettable atmosphere on Wearside.
Drums ffs?

I wasn't going to bother but am now having second thoughts. It's not exactly handy for our pre-match pub (The Cambridge at Roker) but I'm now thinking about going a lot earlier than usual and parking in the town so I can walk owa the new bridge.
Stood in the main bar in Jimmy's stand and had a good look at the bridge and development around the area at half time.

It almost brought a tear to my eye to see the scruffy old town finally getting knocked into shape

Walked across after the crowds had gone and we'd had another couple of Pit Ponys in The Stables.

It was a fitting end to a perfect day

Glad it’s not just me who thinks the tarmac looks cheap! Surely they could have done something better with it!

Never happy 🤷🏼‍♂️

Made it much easier , what’s all the names inscribed on the ground ? Was way too busy to stop and have proper look

It should have been, named the "feck John Hall bridge". As he blocked it being built 25 year ago for the millenium.
It's only taken 25 year to get it, but it was canny using it yesterday.

And it was swaying on the wayback as well.
