Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Took a look as I crossed the Wearmouth Bridge yesterday. The main central span does have a camber but it’s arched in the traditional way and the image I asked the question about certainly is due to lens distortion.

Most bridges have a camber on whether that be side-to-side or end-to-end so water runs off. With foot bridges it's nearly always the latter, road bridges the former.

Video is epic

Was saying the bridge wasn't exactly aesthetically pleasing the other day

Seeing that realise it's more the whole match ritual vibe

Just a shame only one city in the north east is allowed iconic things, by law

Probably have to use a different word like 'alright'
They're doing the aesthetic stuff now main bits are in place apparently

It would’ve been a godsend yesterday, Wearmouth Bridge and St Peter’s area were as jam packed as I’ve seen it, obviously in part caused by certain parts being closed and police vans taking up loads of room.

yeah, that's what I meant when I said due to the nature of the photo. It's just an effect of a panoramic photo, photoshop can sort that out

I've not been over that side of the city in years in a car so can somebody tell me what the parking is like? I do like the idea of approaching the stadium via the footbridge, but dinnit want a chew on with traffic and or parking.

Got St Mary’s right next to it, and a massive multi story at trimdon street not far away.

Its got a 1:82 gradient fall from the south side to the North from the drawings I seen

Trying to regain my crown as Sunderland's number one bridge botherer. Just a trial run this morning but got some decent footage and an idea of what I want to do next.

I'm genuinely surprised at how many people are interested in my videos. Last one had over 1k views in less than 24 hours. Nowt by YouTube standards but it's a canny niche subject.
There's a thread on PF about a Stadium extension, I know this gets regularly trotted out and previously if it had happened would just have mirrored the North Stand if the South Stand was done, nice but fairly boring in reality. But looking at this picture can you just imagine how good it could be done with a decent Architect involved (a very rare commodity)
The upper tier could be a fully glazed elevation looking back over this view in reverse with an internal wide concourse taking in the full view. People would be queuing from 5 o'clock at night to get in for night games to watch the crowds coming from the City across the bridge. Once all the new developments, housing and film studio are complete the view should be amazing.

It would be one of the more photographed Stadiums in the Country and a shoe in for Tournaments and concerts

Design it so it could be used as an event space during the week as well to generate further income

It'd look canny, but I doubt people would be in the ground from 5 o clock though mate. That's a bit of a stretch.
