Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Just checked the Riverside Masterplan and Maker and Faber are down for completion in 2024, unfortunately due to Tolent going under and there being no replacement in place for the Vaux Housing god knows when that will start up again.
I m sure a new builder has been appointed now. I will check.

It was going to be Wates, but then they pulled out. I will keep digging.

Here was the old plan...

Igloo are design partners of the project. The actual contractor to build them is still up in the air. There was meant to be The Sunderland Future Living Expo taking place in 2024 but don't think its happened with construction at a halt.
Invalid/outdated Link Removed Some good CGI's in there.
I heard off a little dickie bird that igloo have been given the whole project from the council ,and told to 'get on with it'.

Fingers crossed we see some progress soon. seen some recent photos and drone vids and the steelwork was looking rusty, the insulating cladding well weathered and weeds coming through the floor slabs.

Trying to regain my crown as Sunderland's number one bridge botherer. Just a trial run this morning but got some decent footage and an idea of what I want to do next.

Some of the negative comments on social media are comical, so clueless it is amazing to read. Fighting hard not to engage with them. 😂

On a positive note it is good to see many of the photos people are posting on here popping on social media and the overall reaction is a good one. It is helping to show Sunderland in a positive light so keep it up.
I'm genuinely surprised at how many people are interested in my videos. Last one had over 1k views in less than 24 hours. Nowt by YouTube standards but it's a canny niche subject.

The drone footage and photos are very dramatic and It's not very often a project on this scale happens in our region. Keep up the good work.

One thing I'd like to see in our city centre is a few more high-rise. This would massively improve the skyline and dilute the view of the 3 tower blocks

They high-rise could be multi use. Residential, Hotel accommodation, shops, bars etc....
That's the way most cities are heading now as retail footfall drops off and WFH increases.
The idea is to get mass density residential into the city centres themselves which then generate leisure and hospitality businesses to cater for them
