Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Has the new name been chosen yet? I thought of a couple but I'd be surprised if any got chosen from these. The bridge of cries, Wayne bridge, Le Bridge.
Not yet guaranteed the council will mess it up.

It links Keel sq with Sheepfolds. Sheepfolds is an awful name so call it the Keel sq bridge. Or just the Keel bridge. As it crosses the river where keels were laid it is very appropriate.
Bridges should have simple names, Wearmouth bridge, A19 Hylton bridge, Fatfield footbridge. Quite boring but working names, Keel bridge, yes could go with that - links Keel square but also a reference to shipbuilding.

I'm more than likely remembering this wrong but wasn't the bridge designed/positioned to line up with the keel line that runs through keel square? Surely has to be the Keel line Bridge/Footbridge if I've got that right?

I never thought of Keel line. That's a good choice of name.

Exactly. Wearmouth Road Bridge, Wearmouth Rail Brigde and now the Wearmouth Foot Bridge.
