I note that this excellent tournament has been on over the last 2 days. The North Yorkshire lads won and the NTSCL ended up playing for the wooden spoon with the NEPL lads.

My lad played in it the previous 2 years and it was a huge learning curve.

Anyone been over to watch it this year? Any observations?

Yes it was a good 2 days. NYACC opening batter was superb scored 57 not out and won the game for them.

Weather was good too!

Last year the downfall of the NY side was that although they had some superb bowlers, their batting wasnt the best. This year they seem to have had everything. I was told last year that by the time the Justsport tournament came around the NY lads had played something like 8 games together whereas the lads in the other teams hadnt played any together. I'm assuming it was probably the same this year. the NY lads by and large get thrashed off the other teams they play so clearly the practice together must help them in this tournament. Certainly my lad never played together with his representative team mates prior to this tournament taking place ever.

It was the same two teams in the final last year but the Durham City lads were big hitters. Surprising really that the NEPL in particular dont make more a fist of this tournament. Clearly the NTSCL struggles due to the lack of numbers, teams, size of villages etc.

I was present at both days (as a supporter for the NTSL) it was again a very good two days cricket played in good conditions, at two very good accommodating host grounds.

Not much at all between the our 3 regional leagues sides (they all won one game in the mini league, see next paragraph) but again the NY were too strong and won all 4 games played, their side did include quiet a few borrowed Cleveland County players mind!! They had a lot more technically better players in their squad than the other leagues which told over the two days, batting was strong, bowling was good but in the one game I saw them their fielding was only very average (which was commented on quiet strongly by one of their coaches as he walked past me).

With regards our local sides playing each other the NTSL beat the Prem league easily on the Tuesday, with the Prem league returning the favour on weds afternoon in the 3 v 4 match. The Durham league beat the NTSL and the Prem league beat the Durham league both of which were close games so nothing at all between our local league sides really over the two days with them all winning one league game.

Some very good young cricketers on view for all leagues, looking at all sides I would say that the NTSL had the youngest squad with a number of the boys not even aged 11 yet, so hopefully they will improve for their experience of the past two days and be stronger next year. The NTSL weren't bowled out for a small number (80+ for 4) against the NY league which was the highest score and closest any of our leagues got to them during the actual league games, the Durham League did put up a good show against them in the final tho!

Just my opinion of the two days, I'm sure other parents/supporters of other children from the other leagues will have their's which would be good to hear!
