Junior Teams Conceding Games

Look at how many games have been conceded and that wont be the full list either. My lad hasnt played a U13 game yet this season - 1 rained off and 2 conceded in the NTSCL. Mental. Just as well he's also playing U15s and Academy cricket.

Are clubs struggling this season with junior players?

When clubs like CLS and Sacriston are conceding games it surely begs a few questions.
 

Sunderland Under 18s only had 4 men last week when they played Hetton Lyons
 
Yes, I believe there are issues with junior numbers at Sunderland.
 
There are more and more clubs struggling with junior numbers and more games conceded at all levels, under 11's up to first team.
Two main factors, in my opinion, are, 1. The "paperwork" that has to be completed to coach and run children's teams. Puts clubs and willing volunteers off.
and 2. Summer football, especially the younger boys and girls.
A good friend of mine played Northern League football but was better known as a local cricketer. He admits he only played cricket because there was no football to play.
If summer football was around in his youth, he would not have played cricket.
Bigger, and better organised cricket clubs are attracting young cricketers with some running A and B teams whilst others are struggling with numbers.
Ultimately this will lead to more Cricket clubs folding.
My abiding hope is that those that are left will be stronger.
It could also lead to clubs "merging" and maybe "sharing" facilities. This has happened over the years in New Zealand and some "clubs" run up to 8 men's teams, 4 women's teams and a raft of junior teams.
At the end of the day I want local cricket to thrive but there will have to be changes.

No cricket on TV is a bigger reason than those two IMO. Biggest mistake in English cricket history when Giles Clarke sold to SKY I reckon.
 
My understanding re summer football in russell foster was it was only U9s or summit like that. Is that wrong like?

Not good news if big clubs cant get teams out.
 
A few clubs are struggling with numbers, wiix of football and lack of interest in juniors wanting to play cricket in there catchment area, shame for some clubs, I know of some pl
yers last season that played u11 and u13 for another club but played u15 for for there own club as there own club did not have enough numbers for a u11 or u13 team, also teams with small numbers will struggle once holidays kick in , I can see more games getting
conceded, was talking to a lad that runs a junior team he has mix of boys and girls in his team of 9
Players, and 5 of them are playing for the county for different age level , he is dreading any bad weather as county players are playing on different days and they have county training as well on top of that
