My son (11) wants a new cricket bat for Christmas. He currently has a heavy feeling GM bat. Does anyone have any advice on what bat to get him which is a bit lighter feel but has a good sweet spot.

Not sure if he runs through the winter months marra but crown sports of Boldon is where I got my lads last bat from. Runs out of a little hut based behind Boldon cricket club. All his bats are hand made and has been going for years so obviously has a good reputation. All sorts of choice depending on what price you wanting to pay

There’s always Lorimers at Bishop Auckland. We tend to do a trip to stock up for the new season. Mr M and the young un have to try the bats out for pick up, the sweet spot and all that jazz.

He always seems to need new pads and gloves and spikes as well… 🙄
