You managed the European version though after we turned it down.

No it's not. Only top flight clubs featured in that. Not kids and third and fourth division clubs. It also led to several more euro trips on our record too. Trips that you lot would kill just to have 1 of. Which now looks like it will never happen.

The current Premier league champions have been where we are. Forest, two times proper European cup winners too. Leicester recent cup and league winners. It happens. Nufc avoided this fate by the skin of their teeth the season before they were properly formed.

A Spanish team pulled out cos they couldn't get babysitters.

We have more league titles than you, is that shouted about constantly? We have finished top 3 in this country many more times, is that shouted about?
Aye you lot constantly bring up your 6 league titles and I am always happy to concede back in the 1800's you were giants.

That was like 100 years ago before any of us were born and wasn't the league about 9 times long when you did that?

This post sums up everything about them. It never happened recently so it dont count. Unbelievable
Sunderland fans lecturing about European football again?

This is like a homeless person criticising the colour of your kitchen cabinets.

Bit like Newcastle fans lecturing Sunderland fans about free tickets then giving ten thousand away themselves

I was at Nufc versus Bastia in the late 70s so I know all about it.

neither are we. The only fans from the north east getting excited about the Johnstones paint trophy was you lot earlier in the season
Newcastle fans just saw it as a joke and a day out to go watch the kids play against Sunderland.

I was genuinely surprised at how giddy Sunderland fans got when they got to the final of that cup, like it was some sort of big trophy and achievement.

It was, I want us to win anything. I haven't seen it. I remember NUFC winning the Japan cup in 1983 and that was treated like a World cup win. There was a crowd at the airport when the team returned.

You have a special relationship with the cup, as long as coloured telly isn't a factor.
I agree but then again I never mention them.
my dad does, he still talks about the 50's when we were a great FA cup side, he was there, he remembers them so to him they are a big thing.
I wasn't born so while they are part of the heritage of the club they mean very little to me.

As far as I'm concerned I can't remember either Newcastle or Sunderland winning anything , we have both been dog shit in terms of winning trophies which is why I never bring them up.

You might have a point if the former happened after the latter. Alas...

You keep banging that drum criticising our European record though when Shola Ameobi has scored three times as many in European competition as Sunderland have in their entire history.
