Jos Buttler Resigns

Ideally he should have had the captaincy taken away from him a long time ago. The problem being there has been no obvious replacement.

This is the third abysmal tournament he has led.

The preparation, tactics and decision making at the ODI WC were shocking.

Our semi final position in T20 WC completely flatterred our performances and now this.

For the England captain to say international cricket shouldnt interfere with the IPL also showed his priorities were wrong.

Just shows that captiancy is a skill which the modern game doesn't allow to develop. Being a great player doesn't make you a great captain
..

I bow to your superior knowledge. I was under the misapprehension that he spent considerable time as an opener or a 3. I also am of the belief it's easier to score later in a 50 over innings as the ball is much softer making swing and bounce more difficult for the bowler-another misapprehension apparently.
Hway mate you didn’t think Buttler batted as a opener or number 3 in 50 over cricket.

You far to knowledgeable to think that.

Yeh, must be confusing with T20.
Seems to me although that he's been more average than outstanding in recent years so just don't appreciate what all the euphoria is about him.

Well as with a lot things mate think we need to agree to disagree on this one :D

Right and where did all of those bat? In the top 4 at worst where it’s the easiest place to bat in ODIs.

You’re also really pushing it with the better averages crack as well. Buttler, Roy, Morgan, Knight, Lamb and Pietersen all average either 39 or 40. Tell me of them who has by far and away the best strike rate?

So in summary you are talking absolute plop.
Hard to compare averages as well through different eras, as the odi setup seems to go through most changes in rules etc, from power plays to the two ball change. One thing for certain is he has been one of our best white ball players though, even if he seems to be struggling now.

A terrible captain, he shouldn't have been allowed to get this far.

Always thought it's wierd that he's never batted in the top 3 in an ODi. Never. Not once in 186 games.

So, after judging Buttler based on his being an opener or #3 bat..... then being educated as to the fact he was neither, ( your 'misapprehension ' ) you then change tack and your criticism is suddenly based on him batting lower in the order where you inform us that you believe things are easier.

Then @Dexter shoots you down on comparative batting averages and strike rates, further emphasising your ' misapprehension '.

I'd put the spade down now if I were you, the hole's more than deep enough 👍

No problem -no agenda against him just don't think his figures justify his best ever English white ball batsman tag.

Buttler will just have to console himself with the fact that Stuart Broad. and Eoin Morgan- amongst others - rate him as the best English white ball batsman ever.

........ not that they'd know, of course.
