Jorne Spileers (Transfer Rumour)

I agree it’s great news other clubs will be looking at a lot of our players as they’re doing so well. I think we’ll have to get used to selling a couple of serious players a season and needing to keep unearth the gems to replace them. It’s been the Brighton and Bournemouth model and even the likes of Brentford have sold some top players so it can be done.

I agree to some degree, but we shouldn’t have to sell quite so much. Commercially we are a different beast to Brighton, Brentford & Bournemouth.

Can see a couple of these signings coming in January for next season. Get them training with alderete, Ballard and mukilele. Probably the end of Luke though

I've mentioned previously, mainly in the threads relating to the possible signing of Jhon Lucumi, that the club will need to manage carefully balancing the numbers of overseas and 'home-grown' players in the squad.

The example, which I've mentioned in the Lucumi threads, is that the club could bring in Lucumi to join the first team squad and lose Hjelde as both count as overseas (Hjelde was with Celtic until he was 18 years old). However, bringing in Lucumi but replacing, for example, Alese or O'Nein would represent a different issue.

Obviously signing Spileers wouldn't present a problem in the immediate term, as being under 21 years he is not required to be counted as one of the 25 squad players, but longer term, someone else would have to give way.

Absolutely bang on. We're already almost maxed out on non-homegrown senior pros for the medium term. Replacements for the likes of Patto, Cirkin and Neil need to take this into account.
