Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

I think O’9 is our infectious older influence in and around the squad. I think that any players now brought in over the age of 25 have to have both the experience and also be almost guaranteed starters. Such as Reinildo. I don’t think Henderson will be close to a guaranteed starter ahead of the lads we have already signed.

I think Henderson's experience of this league would be a huge plus, that bit of nous about how to handle yourself in this league would be massive.

09 is a top lad, no doubt about it, but he is not switched on to the tricks of prem league.

Getting in the refs ear is the main one
JH would have loads of respect from the referees
We defo need to a couple of EPL old hands ideally just for balance.
We definitely don’t
I wouldn’t mind JH , but we can only think about getting him as he’s a Mackem.

Which other prem league players would you want ?
Ones that have been relegated?
We are odds on to go down. Premier league players won’t want to come here, and the value in them is so poor.
Overpriced.

It would seem to me that one of the factors that would make signing Henderson a good idea is how straightforward and simple it would be. If it becomes complicated, I’d have thought those-in-charge wouldn’t be that interested in fannying about or spending time and effort when other options are available and being actively pursued.

I may be completely wrong but the fact that there’s been no announcement or news on this Henderson signing, suggests strongly to me that it’s not happening.

Personally I’m fine with it, either way.

so you'd have Henderson then as would I. If we're signing 10 plus players a couple of players who know the league would obviously be handy seeing as we have hardly any EPL experience. Lindelhof, Doucoure, etc. For sure, they're not world beaters but experience would help which is why it's a pity about Henderson.

Yeah , we will be doing what we have been - free transfers or buying young players who will hopefully improve. And the value for these is generally abroad.

There is not much value in the prem league.
If people are expecting us to shell out on premier league experience then they will be disappointed.
And I don't mind the idea of lindelhof or doucoure - but not cos they have PL experience, just as they fit our long term plan of experienced players on a free
I can't see anyone being disappointed if we don't get either.
We certainly don't need players with premier league experience, just like we didn't need players with championship experience , no matter how much fans cried out for it.

Why, what have I missed? Is he not coming?

Onien, Neil, Mepham, Browne, and Hume all looked to have a say on the pitch as well as off it. Diarra was captaining his side before coming here, the others coming in have a fair amount of European experience.

This whole bring Hendo in to babysit the young'uns is pretty much bollocks anyway. What's he going to do if we're 18th in the league and 3 nowt down at half time with our backs to the wall, tell the lads how he won the Champions League with Liverpool?...he's basically had none of that kind of experience in the PL since he left us as a kid himself!....he may need someone to hold his hand when he has to play for a side that doesn't have the best players or the lions share of possession.

Neil isn’t a leader to me, he’s got no voice on the pitch or didn’t seem to. When ever we were getting shit housed and the ref fell for it, he was passive

MePham isn’t here any more

Browne won’t play. I don’t think he’ll leave and I do think he’s handy to have in and around but he’ll not be a leader

Expecting any of these young lads coming in to move country, no one around them to instantly lead is a big ask. Not saying they might not do it but it’s asking a lot
Is he a good leader? In the season he was captain we finished 16th and were absolutely pitiful for half a season.

I do think he is, especially last year. Having a gaffer that sets a culture helps leaders lead

but again just strengthens my current argument we’ve got no real leaders especially if we think even Luke isn’t one

Our manager really rates his work on the pitch and how he works with the other players. Very very complimentary of him
His season as captain was far better than O'Niens for example. We showed great spirit in a lot games last season.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, people talk absolute bollocks when it comes to the captaincy

Or we do have leaders and you're completely wrong?
