Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Having thought about it, I just don’t think this one will happen. If we wanted him/ he wanted to be here it’d all be wrapped up by now. You’d of have him in for the first day of pre-season training etc.

I think it’s a silly decision by the club, commercially and just from an experience point of view mind.

Maybe he wants to be a guaranteed starter and the club can't offer him that?

Aye, I agree tbh and the club will have their own ideas and are very stubborn to them as we've seen.

Atm I'm just more concerned about strikers, centre backs and a keeper tbh.

Yeah. I just think the downsides are mitigated by the fact we have made enough central midfield signings who are theoretically ahead of him in the pecking order. And he can provide that experience off the field, leadership/ media training and help off the bench.

Maybe game time is a stumbling block, or as you say, the club are concerned about him not fitting their style or whatever (I’d of hoped his incredibly low wage demands would allow them to move past that, but maybe he actually is demanding big wages?)

Two CBs and a very high quality CB have to be the priority now. Need to get it right.

His influence will be immense imho.

The other players will feel a couple of inches taller with him around the place.

We just need to get it done before anyone else might come in for him.

This is home he needs to finish his career here.

He is the kind of player who commands respect from the opposition.

We have some good young talent in the squad but none of them have the experience of Henderson.

Any opposition lining up against Henderson at the top level will know we mean business and have to respect us.

Think you're being a bit over the top there mind.

Don't see any PL club trembling at the thought of facing Henderson tbh. There more likely to shit themselves when they see the energy and pace that's in the team.

The club will still have a set budget both for fees and a wage ceiling. Maybe they’ve looked at the overall cost of a 2 year deal for Henderson and think the money could be better used elsewhere.

Can you put a value on experience? Who knows but maybe our new DoF has identified other options that can provide experience but are slightly younger and cheaper?

Another take on it could be that Regis and his staff think the experience thing is overplayed. The accepted wisdom last season said you couldn’t write off the last six weeks of the season and then turn on form when it was needed - Regis always insisted that not only was it possible but we’d do it and he was right.

He will be tho will be captain and will play infront of the defence
Dan Neil wouldn’t be in the team man ffs, nowhere near

We have bought Diarra, Sadiki and Le Fee who are all levels above him
End of the day nobody knows as none of them have played in the prem Sadiki is very young
I reckon Henderson could add a couple of years to his career by moving to Centre Half. Didn't he have a run of games there for Liverpool during an injury crisis? These nostalgia transfers often don't work out but I just have a feeling this one will.
He can’t head the ball ffs

Not when we've payed the fees we have for the midfielders brought in. We beat a lot of clubs to their signatures too, so they will be coming here to start.

Phil Smith shutting it down as well. Likely the club has briefed local press to stop fans getting carried away

I definitely think like a lot of other deals, if this is one that drags on then it indicates it won't happen.

If both sides want it, the deal should take all of 5 minutes. We know on the Sunderland side we don't want to hang around, so I reckon if we don't have a "here we go" by the weekend then it won't be happening.
