I would hope so. He is already set for life, a couple of years or so on reduced wages won't hurt him. He'll still be on decent money by normal standards even with a big pay cut.

Let’s not get sentimental now. Neil won’t be in the first 11 next season never mind be captain. While I have time for Neil, he’s not a natural captain and if he sticks around he will massively have to up his game to force his way into the team.
