Agreed, I’m not saying they are amazing players but when Forest managed to scrape staying up (alongside their financial irregularities) they had players like Wily Boly and Cheikh Kouyate who had been there and done that in the league with Wolves and West Ham/ Palace starting

Walker and Henderson if free on short term deals would both be class signings, alongside the younger lads.
Just what we need to give us a chance to stay up this season, then build again.
For me it’s about building a team/squad to keep us up, then add stronger, better again.

JH coming home to help stabilise the club in the premier league and help the young lads is completely different to a player heavily reliant on pace going to a club he has no affinity for one last big pay day.

When we got promoted under Reid, the 1st signing he did was someone who knew the premier league inside out with bass experience, Steve bould, one of if not the most important signings the seasons,
If we were to go for Henderson then that would be even mire important because of our youthful set up,
Anyone who says no to Henderson is utterly clueless!

Bould, along with Phillips and Quinn, was one of our most astute signings in the last 30 or so years.

I think Henderson would be an unreal signing. Someone to give a kick up the arse to some of the younger players who might think they’re too big for their boots at Sunderland if we get in a struggle.

If they see a champions league winning captain rolling his sleeves up as he will then it could be invaluable for the rest of the squad.

I think he’ll play as long as Milner did. He’s a model pro.
