Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Still waiting for someone to tell me when has previous players returning ever worked well for us?….
There is absolutely zero relevance to whether they've been at the club before. It's superstitious nonsense.

'Never go back' is said for managers. Somebody better tell Ancelotti who went back to real madrid and won leagues and champions leagues. Or Nathan jones who went back to Luton and laid all the groundwork for their promotion, or mourinho who went back to Chelsea and won a title.

Its superstitious garbage.

It's exactly the same, 99% of football fans are hypocrites let's be honest , they will always look the other way if it benefits the club they support.

 doubling down as ever. Your once proud club is actually owned by a brutal dictator who murders people man!

Yet people had birthday cakes done with "Ashley Out" written in the icing 5 years ago! Incredible

Absolutely does fit the model ,Danny Batth , Cory Evans ,Alan Browne , it’s just the next level up , agree with the rest of your statement though

Not true , 2010 season he played at least 35 games
Thanks for proving my point.

a) he had long retired in 2010
b) he played 23 times for the club in total with two of those as a substitute.

c) when he was out injured for the remainder of the 1999/2000 season Reid still wouldn't bring Helmer in to replace him, but I guess by then he was already out on loan playing Champions League football for Hertha Berlin, typical Sunderland not good enough for us, but good enough for the Champions League

But you have no evidence. Your whole post was opinion and guesswork

While it was disappointing that he went there after the things he had stood for previously it is in no way the same as your club being owned by the Saudi state so shut the fuck the up
He's 34 years old, gave up on his PL career at a time when he was clearly not keeping up, lost his England place, went to Saudi for cash, then came back to play in a sub-standard Dutch league. His current England reselection was met with surprise to say the least because most football people recognise his top level days are finished. Evidence, not Rose tinted nostalgia.

He had just won both domestic cups as captain and played 35 league games. Doesn’t sound like someone not keeping-up to me.

In the best team playing in a poor league. Altidore was banging goals in for fun in that league and we're all scarred from his performances here.

Anyway, whatever will be will be. It's been a healthy debate and one which is fairly polarised, but if he does come back we'll all want him to do well for us.

Loads of this isn’t really what you said but again nearly all of this is either not right and/or opinion. He played 35 league games in a Liverpool side at the top end of the table in his last season in England , hadn’t lost his England place and In fact kept getting picked for England for a while whilst playing in Saudi. Yeah it was a suprise he got called back up for England but that’s just my/your opinion, the fact is the England manger thinks he is good enough and yeah his very top level days probably are past him but we are gonna be right down the bottom end of that league

Ajax aren't the best team at all

I was talking about a Liverpool mate when you said it was clear he wasn’t keeping-up. He must have been as Koop wasn't in the business of playing people for sentimental reasons and certainly not making them captain.

Surprised many seem open to him returning, everyone hated him when he took the blood money and went to Saudi. It does show though, we would be no different to the mags had we got the takeover they got, which let's be honest we all knew that anyway.
Disagree. Henderson made a mistake and realised it. Comparing that to being taken over and owned by a murderous regime, to having to pay a bride to Boris Johnson etc. is absolute nonsense. I'd be OK with Henderson coming back but would not be happy at all being owned by MBS.
Here he is

Well I'll admit I wasn't impressed at all with him going to Saudi and using imagery of Sunderland in his sportswashing announcement there. It is night and day from you lot actively supporting an entity owned by murderers though.
Ah. Is the lad a Mag?
It’s got Defoe written all over it, great footballer , very proud of his SAFC association and what he achieved but it’s a no from me.
He played 40+ games in the Dutch top division last year. It may backfire but would be worth the risk in my view.

Have our fans forgotten he sold himself to the Saudi lot?

We can’t beat on at the mags about blood money etc, then welcome Hendo back with open arms. We are opening ourselves up to them lot if so.
While I agree he made a stupid choice moving there he quickly rectified it and cost himself a lot of money in doing so. To compare it to a full takeover and fans wearing towels is a stretch mind.
