Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

6th best league in Europe yet many come from that league and can't cut it in the Premier League.
We won't be signing any current Premier League players I'd imagine. So then that logic can be applied to anyone we sign.

Le Fee is a complete punt for example. He struggled to get a game in the fourth best league after coming from the fifth best league and were about to spend £20 mil on him.

I'd hope he makes the step up but he may well not too.
How would it be the same?

The lad is 35 next month and is not the player he used to be. Quite frankly, if he wasn't one of our own, this discussion would have died away a long time ago.

We need pace, athleticism, strength, and physicality to just compete at the bottom man. You've seen the likes of Casemiro at United who's won pretty much everything there is and yet he's totally outmatched in the PL now and that's playing for Man U, not a club that's just got promoted.

If the club think he can strengthen us on the pitch then fair enough, I think he'll struggle when we're going to be on the backfoot each week.
Yes make your point better there.

I disagreed with how you made it in the other post. Any player coming here will be facing a different challenge to their current club,

Bit in bold is the point, I trust the people in charge to make decisions. Us fans opinions don't really count for jack shit.

If we didn't have opinions then this board wouldn't exist. I'm not saying I know better than the club, I'm just airing my concerns on pinning our hopes on a 35 yr old who'll have to do far more work than he's done over the last 2/3 years in the middle of the park.

There's not many 35 yr olds playing in the PL and there is a reason for that which is pretty obvious. You mention Le Fee and him being a punt, but, he'll be quicker than Henderson in almost every aspect with him being 24/25 yrs old.

He'd be good to have around, just as Onien has been, but I'm not sure that even the likes of Rigg or Neil would be happy to give up game time in the PL. With the amount of games they've played already, I doubt they see themselves as kids who need an arm around the shoulder from Henderson.

Sorry to spoil anyone's tea ,but we signed Altidore from AZ who was the 7th top scorer in the Dutch league

Can't see Henderson being box to box anymore, maybe he can play the Samed role this season for a similar amount of wages.
A solo pivot, breaking up play I the middle and passing cross field balls to the wingers to attack. Can organise the team and get players in the right position.

Aside from coming home, just look at James Milner as an example. Henderson would be fantastic for us for what he would bring to the young players, and at 35 will still be absolutely capable on the premier league. His game has never been built on our and our pace, much like Milner really. Some players are washed up at 35 but Henderson has lived like a model pro and would have a couple of seasons left in him I’m sure. Ok maybe not for the likes of Liverpool but for a team trying to stay up with fuck all experience on the ranks it’s a very obviously positive signing if we can get him

Depends whether he still has the legs for a midfield role in the Premier.

If not:

Could see Henderson alongside Ballard as a modern type centre half.

Bringing the ball out of defence initiating attacks.

We’ve no one who has played PL football before. Or coached or manager there either. There’s five subs in the PL. It should be done. Obviously not if he’s asking silly money but I don’t think he will be.

That's a leap, but OK. Different position. How many games did we get out of him? 20 or so before he broke completely?

As I've said, if the value is there and we protect ourselves then ok, but not on whatever he's on now, or indeed near it. he's never going to get better as a player, that's just a fact.

I think we will be dictating salary’s with our current owners.
We need that experience in the first season in all probability it’s going to come from a player at the end of his career
