Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Makes sense all around.

As mentioned in this thread already - a 1 year contract with option for a coaching role thereafter of some kind would be tremendous.

Getting him confirmed as the first signing would be a real statement of intent, and would rocket up season ticket sales and feel good factor.

Steve Bould made such a difference to Reid's team - hopefully Henderson would have that sort of influence.

His experience didn't do much for Ajax when it mattered at the end of the season. it's a no from me, unless he's playing for vastly reduced wages and a contract no longer than a year, with an option for a second.

I want young excitement, not old and end of career (regardless of what Tuchel thinks) deterioration.

35 next month. Hard to know if he could still cut it in the Prem. Then again not many, if any, of our current squad could.

Which means any signings have to have a real impact. Our CM at present won't cut it, and I'd be worried that it wouldn't still even with Henderson in it.

His signing would have to be low risk for us and that would mean a drastic drop in wages for Henderson himself.

That's fallacious. There's a necessity to put petrol in your car, there's not a necessity to want your preferred football team to sign Jordan Henderson. Those 2 things are not remotely equivalent.

Henderson came out with a load of embarrassing bull5hit when he left Liverpool. He went for the money. A blind man, blindfolded in a room with blackout blinds could see that for what it was.

Only 3% of UK oil comes from Saudi Arabia.... I'm fine filling up my car knowing the bulk of UK oil comes from Norway..... lovely people ❤️ 👍

Nonsense. He was asked about being linked to us last season and said he had no idea where it has come from. It was another made up stick to beat Speakman with from clowns.
Well I guess I know something you don't

I'm not making random shit up.

I was mocked on another thread for comparing the two. Countered that leasbitter had morals. Henderson, even if up to it on the footballing side should never be allowed near our club after what he did when leaving Liverpool.
I think you are a good poster mate but wrong on this imho.

JH would be a tremendous signing for our club and whilst he shouldn’t have gone to the Saudis he got out pretty sharpush.

His leadership, experience and nous is just what we need and he would be a massive help to our young lads.

An absolute no brainer to get him in if he wants to come.

Realistically you could say that Leadbitter would have been more likely to work, we were in League 1 and his career was coming to the end so him coming down to our level was right. We'd be asking a player to step up to a top level league that they hadn't played in for 2 years, a player who had won everything meaning that the only thing keeping the fire burning in him is being back at his boyhood club.

As we've seen with all of the local lads playing in the squad, the first signs of trouble and supporters get on their backs. Henderson would quickly become a target for this, maybe he could take it and would relieve pressure on others who knows.

All I know is there aren't many successful stories of Sunderland resigning somebody at a later stage.

Don’t understand the obsession with Henderson going to Saudi. People make iffy choices all the time. And people look the other way on so many other moral issues, why focus on this one?

We’re talking about him kicking a ball around in midfield for Sunderland, not whether we should elect him to public office.

He would be a great addition to the team and - yes - a role model.
