Imagine you went into work on Monday, and you were told that evidence existed that the lad sitting at the next desk had groomed a child. Would you be happy to just carry on working with him as usual? There's bound to be a negative effect on the players and it's another reason why it's such a ridiculous decision from the club.

In that time the case might be thrown out, it might get to court and he might be found innocent or guilty.

I don't think it does either. What I think is morally bankrupt was that lad defending the decision on the grounds of us being in a relegation battle, as if that should make any sort of difference to the club's decision.

Very bad move by the club not to suspend him. It's a distraction and negativity that we don't need. We don't come out of this looking good.

He's been bloody awful in his sub appearances anyway.
 
I have not read this thread but for what it's worth I spent 40 years as a teacher...In that time over a dozen colleagues have had similar accusations against them and all have been found not guilty...However there was none of this innocent until proven guilty.All of them were suspended immediately, some for over two years. I don't know what to think about this situation...not very simple is it?

If he's found quilty yes.... Anyway question is irrelevant .... It's about representing 10s of thousands of supporters amongst them children with this hanging over his and the clubs head. I hope he's innocent I really do... Anyway he will be more of a hindrance to the team and its morale at this time IMHO.

It's not difficult at all... Club just has to do what it thinks is morally correct and is in the best interests of the clubs reputation. Anything else is secondary

4 goals and 1 assist this season. 2 goals in defeats with the assist in September. He has done literally nothing since New Years Day.

I can't see how it's that much of a help in all honesty.
 
I would expect that the club has spoken with Johnson and his solicitor and he has explained the situation as he sees it, and then have told them what the police's interest is. As far as I am aware nobody here has been party to that conversation, or knows any of the really pertinent details of the case. It will be difficult to make an informed judgement on the club's decision until after the case is over and more is disclosed. At present I do not have a problem with the decision.

I know nothing about the details of this case, and the case is not yet at court. I can not make my own mind up about it if I know next to nothing about the case. Some people in the various threads have been leaping well ahead and making incredible assumptions that have no basis in logic.

The one thing I will say though, I am frequently amazed at the cases that do get to court and I am frequently amazed at the cases that don't get to court. We are not allowed to post speculation that preempts the judicial process, but it seems obvious some people have made their own minds up already. It does not help where there have been stories of prominent dead people having been sexual offenders, and because of them being dead the police are allowed to just take it upon themselves to declare that the person was most likely guilty.

Sometimes things are not as clear cut as they seem.

This is one of the most shameful decisions in the history of the club. I feel very sorry for the family of the alleged victim. The whole thing is appalling and sickening, and if he is selected v Stoke then I will not be attending matches for the remainder of the season, and I know several people who have said the same.

The board have shown extremely poor judgment on several issues and this has to be the final straw - there must be a reshuffle in the boardroom following this.

You're a mag ergo your opinion doesn't count but it's beginning to irk me that footballers, a demographic of the population that I really looked up to and aspired to emulate as a kid, are continually embroiled in sordid, horrible news stories.

Btw, I don't really mind mags as a general rule, barcoded scum though you are, but I have no respect for people who continually pretend to support a different team than they actually do on a message board.
