And he also has fascist tattoos. Associating with him was a controversial move, why shouldn't people be entitled to react strongly to these kinds of things when they matter a great deal?

that was the "forced" bit, i was being sarcastic of his actions but for maggie to have the face to do an interview saying he wasnt a fascist and had no links to fascism was ridiculous.

They don;t though. The people outraged weren't outraged when this fascist was employed elsewhere. It was all very two faced.

Maybe read up on a bit of history. It might help you to see why it's not such a great idea to associate with someone doing that salute.

So you're allowed to be condescending towards the people who had an issue with Di Canio and say they only had a problem with him because he was the manager here? I, like many others, knew about this stuff long before he arrived here, it's all out there. And it was rightly treated as a controversial move.

I might have been deliberately condescending, but it was a reaction to you calling people who questioned the appointment 'pathetic'. Which is also condescending. There's a good reason why a lot clubs wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

The press only brought it up after he joined us. It was known beforehand, and got the odd comment, no more. The next minute it was massive news recycled from years back. Everyone is allowed an opinion on it, but the minute the press did that, my reaction was "Fuck you lot!" Even more so when the Sun started the SunDERland bollocks

There is nothing to actually stop anyone hiring him, it's just the association with him would naturally be seen as unwise and ultimately be more trouble than it's worth. We only hired him because we were in a desperate situation. Decisions made by lower league clubs tend to be less scrutinised too. Political views shouldn't be a factor when hiring a manager, but when they're as extreme as fascism then it's obviously natural that the club will be criticised for hiring someone with such questionable beliefs. It's not every day you see a manager doing nazi salutes, why did we have to hire a guy who thinks that's a good idea?

It wasn't an issue at Swindon. It still isn't an issue at West Ham, where Di Canio is still revered.

It only became trouble when a superannuated Labour politician and a local trade union placeman decided to cause mischief.
 
Its at times like this when we receive confirmation that some posters on here just post more during difficult times for the club.Almost as if they have agendas and or only like to be negative
