John Hastings overseas player for 2015?

Just wondering what people think about him returning as overseas pro for 2015. I'am not sure if he is eligible to play due to international appearances, but if he is and fancies it i would have thought he will get snapped up by another county.

Looking at Durhams squad Colly and Borthwick are out of contract at the end of the season not sure about Muchall and Breese (did they just sign one year extentions with a benefit thrown in). All the other regular first team players are signed up. If none sign up for next season the squad look short in batting and spin options.

There's no doubt Hastings has played a big part in the games we've won this season, but in a perfect world I'd rather see our home grown lads, Wood, Harrison and Arshad fully fit and available for the whole season instead of two-three games at a time. If you add those three to the seamers we currently have playing then the bowling dept looks more or less sorted, plus we might see a bit more of Stokes?

I'd rather we signed a top quality RIGHT handed top order batsman to slip in somewhere between the 3 left handers we currently have, with 3 left hand batsmen in the first three we tend to let the opposition bowlers settle quickly into their stride whereas a left-right combination would create a bit more of a challenge for them.

However, as I said, that's in a perfect world, I fear money restraints and availability of quality overseas players for the whole season would put paid to that idea.

I'm with Harry, we should look to get a top quality top order batsman.

Failing that we could do worse than to sign the Duke back up mind.

Agree.

Just aswell we got him this season considering the injuries suffered to all our seamers bar Rushy. He cant be on huge ££ mind, normally comes here during the summer to play club cricket

When you see some of the Kolpak garbage & non english born players on the county scene it's comical that an offical overseas player has to have played in a certain amount of internationals for his country.

Nearly every other day i scroll through wikipedia & see someone else was born in aus/south africa.

.

And that's just the England team.

hastings has been a great signing imo. though his no ball problems are strange for a player of his quality. that innings v northants t20 was unreal power hitting.
