Joe Gelhardt

Would be out best striker, would have been a better buy than Rusyn (3 in 18 Vs 2 in 21 and is younger) in truth.

I would like to think we would have more ambition, but we likely don't. Would definitely be an upgrade on Burstow at least.

Better stats for us than Rusyn...
That's a dumb way to show them stats.

Rusyn got 2 goals in 792 minutes, a goal every 396 minutes.

Gelhardt got 3 goals in 1,210 minutes, a goal every 403 minutes.

I do still think both can contribute in this division in the future though.

It's not a dumb way to show the stats it's merely an incomplete way to show them. We could also add that Gelhardt had three assists- so even more complete stats would be that Gelhardt (for us) had a goal contribution every 201 minutes- compared to Rusyn who had a goal contribution every 264 minutes (I'm not particularly interested in the stats themselves I was just using them to point out that I think, as a personal opinion, that Gelhardt would have been a more effective buy than Rusyn).

The fact Rusyn and Gelhardt had similar stats, shows,.more than anything, the gulf between us and Leeds (considering Gelhardt is nowhere near their starting 11 and Rusyn is our main striker).

Rusyn is so much our main striker that he played a total of less than 9 full games.

Gelhardt might have been a more effective buy than Rusyn though, I think both have something to offer.

Got 3 goals in a team constantly creating excellent chances for him.
In our team last season chances like he got were few and far between, I doubt he'd have been any better than burstow for goals scored last year.

No thanks.

I mean yes, that's the problem. He was bought to be our main striker and was unable to break into the starting 11 consistently. He would have played more at the end if it wasn't for the injury, but none of our managers appeared to really trust him. At the limit of our model both in terms of age and price. Also a long term target, it was expected that he'd make an impact (he was the closest signing we made to a Stewart replacement).

TBF we are in agreement. I think he will become a more effective player for us, though probably as a wide player. But wasn't the player we needed.
The downgrade form Gelhardt to Burstow was the bigger problem.

hes on £15k at at Leeds . Probably want that or even more to move . He ain't coming here whether we want him or not.
It's surprising that he's on that much, though he was highly rated. I dont think it matters what his demands are TBF, I don't think he has a hope in hell of being offered anything near that anywhere else (or at Leeds again tbh). Maybe a US team or something, but...

His problem is that he's a striker that has 6 goals in men's football and he's 22. People here claim he's a number 10, but he's never played there afaik, so noone is going to buy him as a number 10.

He really needs to go somewhere and go straight into the first team next season, which rules out any club that could even afford those wages, let alone be willing to pay them. I don't even think he will end up having that many championship opportunities, as a first choice player at least.

His best option might be to drop to a league one club. Bolton, maybe or one of the relegated clubs and building his career there. I doubt they would be willing to pay Leeds a few, but the story is that Leeds want rid.

Be a shame to see him in Div 1 , hes too good for that. I think with just the right nurture he might still do very well. Worse prospects than him have developed late.

There was absolutely nothing he was good at it. He was shit in front of goal and even when he dropped deaper, his link up play and passing was woeful. If he wasn't capable of linking up with Amad, Robert and Clarke in the same team then I don't hold much hope for him at this level.
He put himself about man 😂😂😂😂

What’s the actual evidence to say, ‘he’s too good for that’? Look at his stats as a number exercise as, at the end of his career, that’s all anyone will talk about. As a goal scorer, the lad is useless.

If he's too good for league one then he won't be there for long.
He couldn't get a look in in the championship for Leeds and his stats for us were nothing to write home about.

He needs to play games, and right now he's not going to be number one for very many championship teams.

Broadhead did it and it worked out pretty well for him.
