What was his involvement again? Apart from being in that stupid whatsapp "conquest" group. IF it was just that I'd be tempted to say he may be remorseful and learnt his lesson etc, and shouldn't have his whole career ruined by it. Not that I've been a massive fan of his or Kohler Cadmore's since hearing about it
If he scored runs, people would quickly forget his past issues.
His inclusion as reserve is being heavily discussed and criticised due to his involvement with the Hepburn rape case. Rightly so.
No idea why we've included him, sends out an awful message imo.
Its like the ECB are constantly looking for new years to piss off supporters
Only people with no morals. I follow a fair number of women within the cricket community online and they're absolutely devastated at his inclusion
I am not sure I agree with you here like mate.
I mentioned this on a thread the other week to gage people's opinions, as it was getting discussed on twitter.
Its based off texts he sent in that whatsapp group, they were genuinelly not things me and my mates would ever send to each other, and its poor and pretty revolting, but should someone have his whole career written off because he was a bit of a sexist womaniser when he was young. Not convinced.
I would depend how much he has changed in charachter, but in general I dont like the idea that people cant be forgiven for mistakes
I think that even when they have committed crimes, never mind just behaved morally poorly
You have to respect their views, but doesnt mean they are right
the idea that he can never ever be picked for England for something he did as a young lad, not illegal BTW, is a bit over the top dont you think?
This isnt about Joe Clarke for me, just talking generally
I don't know about the situation in this case but in general I agree with this.
We have all said/done some stupid things when we were young and have learnt from those mistakes.
Obviously some things are inexcusable no matter what but I believe as a society we should be willing to forgive and accept people can chamge but only if they show willing
As a batsman right now,he should have been in the squad over Pope at the very least.
Me and @The Rat had a surprisingly good and civil debate on the pros and cons of selecting him for England and both see it as him being given his 2nd chance
His career isn't over. He's still playing franchise cricket and making plenty of money
Playing for England should require you meet a higher standard. Being an unapologetic rape enabler does not do that. A slap in the face to all women England fans. Hopefully he never makes it past the reserves
