The Elfsborg coach was interviewed for the post and may be in England to watch the team at Bristol City on Saturday.


The Black Cats seem determined to go outside the club for a boss despite two strong displays from caretaker Michael Dodds.


Coach Dodds is unlikely to be offered the job and Thelin's chances are high as the Sunderland interview team casts their net wide.


Insiders reveal that their first choice will take in the game in Bristol ahead of appointment while


Dodds knows he is set to bow out.
