Seems like the logical next step in recruitment. Mukiele is a better RB than Hume.

We need to ensure Mukiele can start every game he’s available at RB, Hume as the back up. That means we need 5 CB’s if we’re going to play a back 5 regularly.

Alderete & Ballard. Geertruida can play there but I’m not sure CB is his best position, we could do with another out and out CB.

I’d still like us to sign Geertruida. Him, Xhaka, Sadiki, Diarra & ELF are 5 good midfield options.

I agree with that. Would Lucimi even start for us? He’s a left sided centre half and Alderete has had a brilliant season bar that bad game last week. Not sure spending that type of money on a CB who may not even start is worth it when we can sign Geertrudia for same price and cover 3 positions

We've also already got alderete and mukiele who are 28. Reinildo is 31. Adding another late 20s defender for big money seems unlikely to me.

I never said it was. I was meant to quote a post saying they don't think we will sign Geertruida.
 
Would love us to sign a LCB. Alderate is brilliant but we need 2 players in every position.

€30M is a lot for a player that is out of contract in the summer mind!

I agree, I also like Geertruida. So either they don’t see themselves exercising the option or perhaps the purchase price is more favourable for a good deal?

Could all be agent nonsense mind but I do like a transfer rumour 🤣

This is my thought

Or what I think the club might think. He can play numerous positions but they might sign 2 players instead of him who are specialists. Not sure if that makes sense

Not saying I would do that just think it’s a fair chance.

Just think it’s a chance. Lot are presuming we will just sign him. But if did feel like we got him last minute on loan, it’s worked out well but think Theres probably a reason they just didn’t buy him like all the others

Let’s see

We’ve got form for going back, it’s obvious we rate the lad highly. Hopefully we get him for a fee better than the summer given he’s turned down contract offers and is another six months into his current deal. If we have an aim for the top ten and Europe we need a bigger squad where the drop off isn’t as big. I have a feeling if we had a choice we’d have maybe given alderete a game or two off as he’s looked a little leggy and not his normal self. We play three centre backs at times too so another quality edition there wouldn’t go a miss. Gurty can play all over and I hope we sign him also.
